Sailing Hosts Conference Open Championship As America Trophy Comes to Cayuga Lake

ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Cornell sailing team will compete on home waters when it hosts the America Trophy beginning on Saturday, April 19. The two-day regatta will serve as the MAISA open conference championship, with the top two finishers earning an automatic spot at nationals.

The Big Red earned a bid to the women's team racing nationals for the third consecutive year with a first-place finish at the MAISA Women's Team Racing Championship this past weekend with four sailors earning conference honors. Senior Bridget Green, a two-time MAISA Women's Sailor of the Year, was a first-team all-conference pick alongside sophomore Winborne Majette, while junior Sophia Devling and freshman Gilda Dondona were second-team selections.

Cornell will be among 18 teams competing out of the Merrill Family Sailing Center and will be in search of its first appearance at nationals in Open sailing.
