CORTLAND, N.Y. – Cornell women's track and field team competed at the Cortland Classic on Friday and Saturday and earned nine first place finishes among multiple top five finishes.
Margaux Rawson headlined the heptathlon with a first-place finish, racking up 4,340 points. She claimed victory in the 100m hurdles (15.02), high jump (1.68m), and 200m (27.21) over the two days. Johanna Stuard, in her first-ever heptathlon appearance, finished second overall with 3,802 points. Her best mark came in the long jump, where she reached 5.22m.
In the sprints, Skyy Johnson placed third in both the 100m (12.07) and 200m (24.60), while Brianna Beckman wasn't far behind, clocking a personal best in the 200m at 24.64 and placing fourth in the 100m (12.19). The 4x100m relay team of Sade Falese, Johnson, Beckman, and Rebecca Griebel brought the heat, taking first place in a time of 48.65 seconds. The 400m dash was a close contest, with Justine Hounsell narrowly taking first in 57.73 over Rachel Bethke, who clocked a personal best 57.80 for second place.
In the hurdles, Audrey Hubbell clocked 14.43 to earn a first-place finish in the 100m hurdles, followed closely by Aniyah Walters in second (14.65). Belle Bennett snagged fourth with a time of 15.18 but set a personal best in the prelims at 14.88. In the 400m hurdles, Kate Fenwick earned second place with a personal best of 1:06.26.
Middle distance events saw Fiona Lee cruise to a victory in the 800m with a time of 2:16.57, followed by Riley Ebersole, who placed second in 2:20.33. In the 1500m, Alexa Barton finished strong with a second-place time of 5:02.89.
The field events belonged to Cornell's throwers and jumpers. Avery Hastings led the way in the hammer throw with a personal-best 56.17m mark, remaining second all-time in Cornell history. Noelle Elkinton had a stellar day across multiple events, taking first in shot put (14.66m), second in discus (40.01m) and placed fourth in the hammer throw (50.59m). Torie Jamieson took the discus title with a mark of 41.72m. In the shot put, Claire Springer (13.33m) and Charli Stewart (13.03m) rounded out the top three behind Elkinton. Nicole Loy also placed fifth in the hammer throw (49.39m), fourth in shot put (12.72m), and fourth in the discus (39.15m) to round out the Cornell throws squad.
In the jumps, Elizabeth Graham took the triple jump title with an 11.38m effort and second in the long jump (5.57m). Sade Falese was right behind in the long jump at 5.54m at third while also contributing a fifth-place finish in the 800m (2:28.14). Skyy Johnson added a fifth-place long jump (5.36m) to her sprint success, while Rikki Carver took second in the triple jump (10.86m) and sixth in the long jump (5.34m). Rebecca Griebel added a fourth-place triple jump finish (10.60m).
