Bergmann Shines For Team USA During Collegiate Series Against Canada

LAKE PLACID, N.Y. - The Cornell women's ice hockey team had seven skaters represented during the 2025 Collegiate Series between USA Hockey and Hockey Canada. Annelies Bergmann, Grace Dwyer, Rose Dwyer, and Lindzi Avar competed for Team USA. Avi Adam, Piper Grober and Alyssa Regalado suited up for Team Canada. The United States took the series 2-1 at 1980 Rink at the Lake Placid Olympic Center.

During the series, Bergmann produced a pair of winning efforts in net. In the series opener, the Big Red All-American net-minder collected 21 saves, only allowing the Canadians to put one past her during a third-period power-play to spoil the shutout. Rose Dwyer collected a point, as she set up Ava Lindsay the game's opening goal. Canada out-shot the United States, but Bergmann's performance help land the Americans a 4-1 victory.

In game two, the Canadians found more success against Bergmann, but she would post another victory due to her stellar efforts when it counted most. With the game tied 2-2 going into the third period, Grace Dwyer found Kelly Gorbatenko 30 seconds in during a power-play to give the United States their second lead of the day. Canada responded late in the stanza, when former Ivy League foe Sarah Paul found the equalizer to send the game to overtime. neither team would manage to find the back of the net during extras, ultimately sending the game to a shootout. Bergmann stood tall in net, shutting down 14 consecutive attempts to aid in the series clincher for the United States.

Game three saw goaltender Layla Hemp in goal for the Americans in the place of Bergmann. Canada earned its first win of the series in a high-scoring 7-6 game that was determined by shootouts for the second time this series. Grober earned an assist on the third Canada goal of the night. Grace Dwyer collected her second point of the series when she dished a helper on Mary Kate O'Brien's third period goal.
