Golf Climbs to Fifth at Red Bandanna Invitational

VERONA, N.Y. — Cornell's men's golf team moved up one spot to fifth place in the final round of the Red Bandanna Invitational at Turning Stone Resort, posting a team-low 302 (+14) in Monday's third round for a 54-hole total of 928 (+64).
 
The Big Red's strong finish was led by freshman Shep Davis, who carded a 76 to finish tied for eighth individually at 226 (+10). Davis was Cornell's top performer throughout the three-day event at the Kaluhyat course.
 
Competing as an individual, TJ Betlow fired a 77 in the final round to finish tied for 10th at 229 (+13). Betlow was consistent across all three rounds, posting 76-76-77.
 
Tyler Debusschere contributed a 76 in the final round to finish tied for 24th, while Adithya Venkataraghavan shot 75 in the final round to finish tied for 31st. Weston Warden rebounded with his best round of the tournament, shooting 75 to finish tied for 38th overall.
 
Boston College captured the team title with a three-round total of 897 (+33), led by co-medalists Markus Lam and Jack Pogorelc, who both finished at 215 (+3). Lam closed with an even-par 72, while Pogorelc fired the tournament's best final round with a 1-under 71.
 
South Dakota finished second at 904 (+40), followed by Sacred Heart in third at 905 (+41). LaSalle took fourth place at 924 (+60).
 
Cornell's 15-stroke improvement from sixth to fifth place was highlighted by the team's best scoring round of the tournament. The Big Red finished ahead of Lehigh, UMass Amherst, Maryland Eastern Shore, Manhattan, Merrimack and Saint Francis.

Cornell will travel to Hamilton, N.Y. for the Alex Lagowitz Memorial hosted by Colgate at the Seven Oaks Golf Club on Saturday, Sep. 6 and Sunday, Sep. 7.
