ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Cornell men's golf team will look to build on its early season momentum when it travels to Hamilton, N.Y., for the Alex Lagowitz Memorial Invitational, hosted by Colgate at Seven Oaks Golf Club. The two-day, 54-hole tournament begins with 36 holes on Saturday, Sept. 6, before wrapping up with 18 holes on Sunday, Sept. 7. Both days feature 9 a.m. shotgun starts.
Cornell will compete against a 14-team field that includes Binghamton, Bucknell, Colgate, Penn, Seton Hall, Villanova, and others on the par-72, 7,125-yard Robert Trent Jones-designed course.
The Big Red has a proud history at the event, highlighted by a team championship in 2019 and an individual title in 2015, when Mike Graboyes earned medalist honors.
At last week's season-opening Red Bandanna Invitational, Cornell placed fifth out of 11 teams, led by freshman
Shep Davis, who tied for eighth individually. Sophomore
TJ Betlow (10th) and junior
Tyler Debusschere (24th) also finished in the top 25.
The Alex Lagowitz Memorial Invitational, named in honor of the late Colgate golfer, has become a meaningful early-season test for the Big Red, which has competed in every edition since 2016, except for the 2020 cancellation due to COVID-19.
