Big Red Sailing Competes in Trio of Regattas at Kings Point

ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Cornell sailing team turned in a busy and productive weekend at Kings Point, competing in three separate regattas and earning a pair of top 10 finishes.

In the Women's Top 9 Regatta, the Big Red placed seventh out of nine teams with 319 points, finishing ahead of Fordham and host Merchant Marine Academy. The A division team of Pilar Cundey and Anna Iacobucci highlighted the effort, winning two races and notching seven top-five finishes. Maeve Katics and Vera Jacobson represented Cornell in B division.

In the Open Regatta, Cornell finished ninth overall with 422 points. The A division featured skipper Matthew Schmidt (races 1-6, 13) with crew Laine Reshefsky, while Nikhil Damji also saw time at the helm (races 7-12). In B division, Beylen Gode skippered with Kate Constan as crew.

Sophomore Marcus Greco also represented the Big Red in the MAISA Top 9 ILCA 7 Singlehanded Championship, placing 12th out of 15 of the region's top sailors. Greco tallied five top-10 finishes across 13 races, including one third- and one fourth-place result.

Cornell returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 27, with the Women's ACC Semifinals at Navy and the Moody Trophy hosted by Rhode Island.
