Cornell Men’s and Women’s Track & Field Host Upstate Challenge

ITHACA, N.Y. — The Cornell men's and women's indoor track and field teams return to Barton Hall on Saturday, Jan. 17, to host the Upstate Challenge, marking the Big Red's third meet of the indoor season.

Cornell will welcome regional competition from Syracuse, Colgate, Binghamton, and Guelph (Ontario, Canada) for a full day of action featuring both track and field events. Admission is free, and live results will be available on LeoneTiming.com.

Field events begin at 10 a.m. with the women's weight throw, followed by the men's weight throw, women's shot put, and men's shot put. The vertical jumps get underway at 11 a.m. with the men's pole vault, followed by the women's pole vault. Horizontal jumps will run concurrently at noon, with the men competing in the long jump on the backstretch pit and the women on the homestretch pit, each followed by the triple jump. High jump competition starts at 1 p.m. with the men, followed by the women.

Track events open at 12:30 p.m. with men's 60-meter hurdles trials, setting the tone for a packed schedule of sprints, middle distance, and distance races. Finals in the mile, hurdles, dash, 600, 400, 1,000, and 300 meters will lead into the 3,000 meters and conclude with the 4x400-meter relays at 5:05 p.m.

Meet officials note the schedule may run up to 10 minutes ahead when possible.

Saturday's Upstate Challenge offers Cornell another opportunity to sharpen performances and build momentum as the indoor season continues, while fans get an early-season look at the Big Red competing against strong Northeast and international competition.
