Women's Swim and Dive Falls To Yale, 192-108

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Cornell women's swimming and diving team fell to Yale, 192-108, on Saturday at Kiphuth Exhibition Pool. Cornell earned multiple event victories and podium finishes throughout the meet, including wins in individual swimming events and diving.

Cornell opened the meet with a third-place finish in the 400 medley relay as the A relay of Rosalee Springer, Nicole Byrnes-Cortinas, Katherine Yee, and Jungmin Yoon touched in 3:44.92. In individual events, Hojung Yoon won the 400 IM in 4:19.11, while Oceane Vanlinthout placed third in 4:20.93 and Katie Ferreira finished fifth in 4:24.64. Jungmin Yoon placed second in the 200 free (1:48.99), followed by Erin DeHollander in third (1:50.02) and Arina Vorobyeva in sixth (1:52.23).

Yee earned a win in the 100 fly with a time of 55.03 and added a second-place finish in the 200 fly (2:02.61), with Vanlinthout placing third (2:03.37). In the backstroke events, Ming Xu placed second in the 100 back (54.83), while Hojung Yoon finished second in the 200 back (1:58.12) and Springer placed third (2:01.38). Byrnes-Cortinas recorded a second-place finish in the 200 breast (2:18.44).

In diving, Lilla Kuziemko won the 3-meter event with a score of 279.30, while Morgan Ogata finished second at 270.30. Ogata also placed fourth in the 1-meter dive (258.23), followed by Kuziemko in fifth (242.78) and Julia Wilkinson in sixth (232.58). Cornell closed the meet with a second-place finish in the 200 free relay as the team of Springer, Ariel Lin, Xu, and Kate Li finished in 1:33.44.

The Cornell women's swimming and diving team will return to the pool on Friday, January 23rd against Columbia. The Big Red and the Lions will begin competition at 12:00 noon at Percy Urus Natatorium.
