ITHACA, N.Y. – Four Cornell University men's lacrosse players have been named to the 2026 USA Lacrosse Preseason All-American teams, USA Lacrosse announced Tuesday.
Junior attack
Ryan Goldstein was a first-team selection, while fellow junior attack
Willem Firth and senior faceoff specialist
Jack Cascadden earned third-team honors, and senior defenseman
Brendan Staub earned honorable mention status.
Goldstein returns after a spectacular 2025 campaign in which he recorded 43 goals and 50 assists for 93 points in 19 games. He ranked second on the team in total points and led Cornell with 50 assists while adding 41 ground balls. The junior attackman also contributed four game-winning goals. As a sophomore, Goldstein was named Second Team All-Ivy, an All-American by Nike Inside Lacrosse, and added to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List midway through the season.
Firth was a dominant force on the offensive end in 2025, tallying 32 goals and 17 assists for 49 points in 19 games. The junior attackman recorded 86 shots while contributing one game-winning goal. He also excelled on the man-up unit with nine man-up goals and caused one turnover from the attack position. The Ottawa, Ontario, native was named a First Team All-American by Inside Lacrosse and a member of the All-Ivy First Team.
Cascadden was one of the nation's premier faceoff specialists in 2025, winning 285-of-468 faceoff attempts (.609), which ranked top-10 nationally, while appearing in all 19 games. The senior was tops on the team with 158 ground balls while adding five caused turnovers. He added 10 goals and one assist offensively while anchoring Cornell's dominance at the faceoff X.
Staub was a defensive stalwart for the Big Red in 2025, playing in all 19 games and recording 19 caused turnovers to lead the defensive unit. The senior defenseman also contributed 57 ground balls and added three goals and three assists. His defensive prowess was crucial to Cornell allowing just 10.26 goals per game during the 2025 season, earning All-Ivy honorable mention status for his efforts.
Cornell posted an impressive 18-1 overall record in 2025, including a perfect 6-0 mark in conference play en route to its fourth National Championship in program history and first since 1977.
The 2026 season begins Feb. 14 when the Big Red travel to the Capital Region to take on UAlbany. The game is slated for a 1 p.m. start on ESPN+.
