ITHACA, N.Y. - Former Big Red skaters Brianne Jenner '15 and Kristin O'Neill '20 has been selected to the represent the Canadian National Team at the 2026 Winter Olympic Games in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy. In all, three former Big Red skaters will suit up for the 2026 Winter Olympic Game.
Jenner will be making her fourth appearance in the Olympic Games. The Cornell Athletics Hall of Famer will look to add to her medal collection, which currently boasts two golds and a silver. She earned her first medal in
Sochi during the 2014 games by helping Canada win it's fourth consecutive gold. Jenner would follow that up with a silver medal during the 2018 games in
PyeongChang, when Canada fell to the United States in shootouts. In 2022, she helped Canada rise back to the top, earning gold in
Beijing.
O'Neill, a three-time world champion and two-time silver-medalist will be getting her first opportunity to play in the Winter Olympic games. O'Neill was a force during her time at Cornell, capping her career by leading the Big Red to a 28-2-3 record during the 2019-20 season before the pandemic stoppage.
The 2026 women's ice hockey Olympic Games are scheduled to begin on Friday, February 6* and conclude on Sunday, February 22*. The Canadian women's ice hockey team is slated to begin its slate on Thursday, February 5** at 3:10 p.m. E.T. in Preliminary action against Finland at the Milano Rho Ice Hockey Arena. The Canadians are slotted in Group A, joining USA, Czechia, Finland and Switzerland.
