Ithaca, N.Y. — The Cornell Big Red wrestling team closed out its home slate in dominant fashion on Senior Day, defeating Binghamton, 26-9, in its final home dual inside Friedman Wrestling Center of the 2025-26 season.
Cornell won the first eight bouts of the afternoon to build an insurmountable lead, honoring its 13-member senior class with a commanding performance in front of the home crowd.

The Big Red struck first at 125 pounds, where senior Greg Diakomihalis controlled the pace from the opening whistle. Diakomihalis scored two early takedowns and carried a 6-2 lead after one period before securing a 7-3 decision over Carson Wagner to give Cornell a 3-0 advantage.
At 133, Tyler Ferrara piled up three first-period takedowns and never looked back, earning a 9-2 decision over Dylan Arrick to double the lead.
Foster Cardinale followed with a steady 7-3 decision at 141, using a late first-period takedown and another in the third to extend Cornell's lead to 9-0.
Senior Josh Saunders edged Caleb Sweet, 4-3, at 149 in a tightly contested bout, fending off a late push to keep the Big Red unbeaten through four matches.
No. 7 Meyer Shapiro delivered the first bonus points of the day at 157. Shapiro racked up six takedowns and cruised to a 16-2 technical fall over Fin Nadeau, stretching the team score to 17-0.
Benny Rogers capped a high-scoring 165-pound bout with a 14-9 decision over Marco Albanese. Rogers tallied multiple takedowns and near-fall points to push Cornell's lead to 20-0 at the intermission.
At 174, Simon Ruiz secured a ranked victory with a disciplined 2-0 decision over Carter Baer, scoring the only escape of the match and adding riding time to remain unbeaten on the afternoon.
Louie Cerchio continued the momentum at 185, controlling Will Ebert from top position and compiling nearly three minutes of riding time in an 8-1 decision, giving Cornell a commanding 26-0 lead.
Binghamton broke through at 197, as Mikey Squires earned a second-period fall over Carson Crace to put the visitors on the board.
The heavyweight bout provided late drama. Cy Kruse IV forced sudden victory against Trent Sibble after the match was tied 2-2 at the end of regulation. Sibble was awarded a stalling point in overtime, and a Cornell challenge was unsuccessful, resulting in a 3-2 decision and the final 26-9 score.

Prior to the dual, Cornell honored its 13 seniors for their contributions to the program: Kaleb Williams, Evan Canoyer, Greg Diakomihalis, Ethan Fernandez, Myles Griffin, Christian Hansen, Brody Oleksak, Benny Rogers, Josh Saunders, Joe Sciarrone, Benjamin Schvartsman, Brett Ungar and Nate Wade.
The group combined for more than 300 career victories and played a key role in maintaining Cornell's standing among the nation's elite programs.
