ITHACA, N.Y. --- The Cornell equestrian team will host the Regional Championships on Sunday, March 8 at Oxley Equestrian Center.
The Big Red enters regionals leading the region after a strong regular season that included four High Point Team titles and three Reserve High Point Team finishes through eight shows. Cornell captured High Point Team honors at RIT Show II, Cornell Show I, Nazareth Show II and Cornell Show II.
Eleven Cornell riders have qualified for regionals across multiple divisions.
Riley Gerardo qualified in both open flat and open fences and earned Reserve High Point Rider honors twice this season.
Erin Morera also qualified in two divisions—open fences and intermediate flat—and was named High Point Rider at both RIT Show II and Cornell Show II, including a "ride of the day" performance with a score of 91 at Cornell Show II.
Jianna Simcik qualified in both intermediate flat and intermediate fences and earned High Point Rider honors at Cornell Show I. In limit competition,
Clara Beck qualified in both limit flat and limit fences, while Halle Avartin,
Madelyn Samtani and
Jillian Ryan all qualified in limit fences.
Uma Comfort and
Evelyn Gurvich qualified in novice, while
Alexa Carey and
Janice Shen qualified in introductory.
The Regional Championships will take place on Sunday at Oxley Equestrian Center.
