WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — The Cornell men's outdoor track and field team opened competition at the Wake Forest Invitational on Thursday evening, highlighted by a strong showing in the 800-meter run.
Freshman Edgar Thielens led the way for the Big Red, capturing first place in the 800m open (heat six) with a time of 1:50.74. Junior Tyler Tisinger followed with a fourth-place finish in the 800m open (heat eight), crossing the line in 1:50.65.
Cornell will continue competition Friday across split sites. Action at the Wake Forest Invitational resumes at 2 p.m., beginning with track events, with live results available on xpresstiming.com.
The remainder of the squad will begin competition at the Navy Invitational in Annapolis, Maryland, starting at 12 p.m. with the multi events. Live results for that meet will be available on leonetiming.com.
