ITHACA, N.Y. — Cornell women's rowing swept Rhode Island and took five of six races against Delaware on Saturday on Cayuga Inlet, winning 10 of 11 head-to-head races across a full day of home racing in strong tail wind conditions.

The Big Red opened the morning session against Rhode Island, winning all four head-to-head races. Cornell claimed the 1V8+, 2V8+, 1V4+ and 3V8+, with the latter being the most decisive race of the morning session as the Big Red pulled away to a 22-second margin over the Rams. Cornell also claimed the 2V4+ against Delaware and the Big Red's 4V8+ topped Bucknell's 3V8+ by more than 10 seconds.

The afternoon session saw Cornell face Delaware, with the Big Red taking three of four races against the Blue Hens. The 1V8+ and 2V8 both favored Cornell, while Delaware dealt Cornell its lone loss in the 1V4+, edging the Big Red by 2.5 seconds. Cornell responded by taking the 2V4+ in a tight finish over Delaware. In the 3V8+, Cornell finished ahead of Rhode Island in a race where finish order was recorded but times were not reported after an official had to steer the Rams' boat to avoid debris past the finish line. Cornell's 4V8+ improved upon its morning victory over Bucknell's 3V8+, winning by more than 30 seconds.

Conditions were fast throughout the day with a strong tail wind, though the water grew rougher in the final 500 meters of the afternoon session. Delaware's 2V8+ was affected by an injury and equipment issue during the practice row, requiring a coxswain to double up between races and impacting the order of afternoon racing.
