ITHACA, N.Y. — Five members of Cornell men's lacrosse have been named USA Lacrosse All-Americans, the organization announced on Thursday afternoon.
 
Attackman Willem Firth headlines the group as a First Team All-American, while faceoff specialist Jack Cascadden earns Second Team recognition. Defenseman Brendan Staub lands on the Third Team, and attackman Ryan Goldstein and short-stick defensive midfielder Luke Gilmartin each receive Honorable Mention.
 
Firth, a junior, leads the nation's attackmen with 51 goals and 29 assists for 80 points on 126 shots through 15 games. His 51 goals rank among the single-season program records and have helped Cornell average nearly 13 goals per game on the year. Firth, the Ivy League Attackman of the Year, and unanimous All-Ivy First Team selection, is one of five finalist for the Tewaaraton Award. His 51 tallies this season ranks ninth in the single-season record book.
 
Cascadden, a senior, wins the faceoff battle at a .626 clip (166-for-265) while also collecting 87 ground balls across 13 appearances, earning second team honors from USA Lacrosse for the second consecutive season. The Garden City, N.Y., native was named Ivy League Midfielder of the Year and First Team All-Ivy unanimous selection and he currently ranks second in program history with 583 career faceoff wins and 322 ground balls. His 166 faceoff wins this season is ninth-most in a single season in program history.
 
Staub, a senior and unanimous All-Ivy First Team selection, is one of the anchors of a Cornell defense that holds opponents to 10.40 goals per game. The longstick midfielder has tallied 40 ground balls and 15 caused turnovers across 15 games, including a season-best four caused turnovers in the Ivy League Tournament Championship game against Princeton. His 62 career caused turnovers ranks seventh all-time.  
 
Goldstein, a junior, ranks second on the team with 33 goals and 31 assists for 64 points on 101 shots, providing the Big Red with a one-two punch alongside Firth that opposing defenses have struggled to contain all season. The junior ranks eighth all-time in career points with 190 on 97 goals and 93 assists. He is ninth in program history with 93 assists.
 
Gilmartin, a junior, has recorded 27 ground balls and 11 caused turnovers in 15 games, excelling in his role on the defensive end, while adding three goals and three assists on the offensive end of the field.
 
All-Americans were chosen by USA Lacrosse Magazine staff with input from coaches and conferences across the country. Cornell (11-4) is in the NCAA Tournament, hosting Johns Hopkins in a first round game Saturday at Schoellkopf Field.
