Harvard Rallies Past Women's Basketball On Senior Night

ITHACA, N.Y. -- Allie Fedorowicz led all scorers with 25 points, but Harvard rallied from a six-point halftime deficit to claim a 63-56 victory over the Cornell women's basketball team on Saturday night at Newman Arena in Ithaca.

Cornell (10-14, 6-6 Ivy) led by as many as nine early in the second half, but Harvard chipped away at the lead until finally taking the lead on a Katie Rollins layup with 9:17 to play. Cornell would retake the lead and go up by as many as five on a three-pointer by Lauren Benson, 54-49, with 5:46 to go, but Harvard went on a 14-2 run, sparked by six points from Brogan Berry, to close the game and seal the victory.

Shannan Scarselletta had 12 points in her final appearance at Newman Arena, while Lauren Benson added 11 points. Allie Munson and Christine Vlasic led all players with 10 rebounds apiece.

For Harvard, which improves to 17-8 and 9-2 in the Ivy League, Emma Markley and Emily Tay both had 16 points to lead the Crimson, while Berry was also in double figures with 12 points. Tay led all Harvard players with nine rebounds and five assists.

Saturday night's game was the final home game for the two seniors on the Cornell roster, Shannan Scarselletta and Lacey Workman, who were recognized in a pre-game ceremony.

Cornell closes out the 2008-09 season next weekend, making the annual trip to Penn and Princeton. The Big Red and the Quakers will face off on Friday at 7 p.m. in Philadelphia, while the season closes out with Princeton in Princeton, N.J., on Saturday at 7 p.m.
