HANOVER, N.H. – John Glynn registered a career-high five goals and Rob Pannell tallied two goals and four assists, as the No. 3 Cornell men's lacrosse team defeated Dartmouth, 19-6, this afternoon at Scully-Fahey Field. With his six points, Pannell broke the Big Red freshman record for points in a single season, previously held by Sean Greenhalgh, as he leads the team with 44 points.

In addition to Glynn and Pannell's performance, the Big Red got double-digit points from Ryan Hurley (three goals, one assist), Chris Finn (two goals, one assist), Rocco Romero (one goal, two assists) and Max Seibald (one goal, two assists). In net, all three goalies saw action, with Jake Myers earning the win with a three-save, three-goals-against effort. Cornell (8-2, 4-0 Ivy) held the dominant edge in shots, 40-23, and ground balls, 44-25, while winning 20-of-28 face-offs. The Big Red used three different players in the circle, and each was impressive, with Glynn going 10-for 12, Matt Sutherland winning 6-of-8, and Kevin Raesly taking 4-of-8. Glynn also picked up a team-high seven ground balls.

Dartmouth (3-8, 0-3 Ivy) was led by Ari Sussman with one goal and two assists, while Brian Koch had one goal and one assist. In net, Fergus Campbell made just seven saves in the loss.

The Big Red dominated from the beginning, opening the game on a 10-1 scoring run in the first 20 minutes of action. During the decisive run, Cornell got four goals from Glynn and two goals and two assists from Pannell.

In addition to his four points, Pannell also caused a key turnover on Dartmouth's first possession. The Big Red scooped up the loose ball and just moments later Glynn buried it in the back the net, off a pass from Finn, to make it 1-0 just under three minutes into the game.

Less than three minutes later, Glynn struck again as he slipped past several Big Green defenders and beat Campbell down low.

Seibald set up the next Cornell goal as a shot by Romero went off Campbell, hit the post, and ricocheted 15 yards upfield. Seibald snatched the ball out of midair and sent a crisp pass to Finn, who converted to make it a 3-0 lead at the 5:10 mark.

Pannell got his first tally of the day just 24 seconds later, as he rolled around the right side of the goal, turned back to his left and beat Campbell over his left shoulder.

Dartmouth got on the goal with 2:06 remaining in the quarter, but Sussman's goal was answered with back-to-back goals by Glynn and Seibald to send the visitors into the first intermission with the 6-1 lead.

The Big Red picked up right where it left off at the start of the second quarter, as Glynn won the opening face-off and sent a quick pass to Pannell. The rookie attackman zipped a pass to Hurley and Hurley scored to make it a 7-1 game just seven seconds into the second quarter.

Jon Thomson, who started the day running on the second offensive midfield, got his first goal of the season as he took a pass at the top of the box, streaked down the left side of the field and beat Campbell up high.

Pannell had a hand in Cornell's next two goals, scoring off a loose ball in front of the crease, before setting up Glynn's final tally of the day, to make it a 10-1 game with 10:19 to play in the second quarter.

The two teams traded goals over the next four minutes, with goals by Rhett Miller and Jimmy Mullen answered by Hurley and George Calvert. Cornell got the final tally of the half when David Lau scored off a pass from Pannell to make it 13-3 at the intermission.

Dartmouth got its only back-to-back goals of the game at the start of the third quarter, with Josh Gillam and Jon Livadas making it a 13-5 game at the 12:56 mark.

Cornell responded with the next six goals, beginning with an outstanding effort by Romero, who fought through the middle of the Big Green defense to return the momentum to the Big Red.

Hurley earned his first assist of the day, on a goal by Finn, before scoring his final goal off a pass by Pannell to make it a 16-5 contest with less than two minutes to go in the third quarter.

Shane O'Neill ended the third quarter as he took a pass from Kyle Doctor and scored with just three seconds remaining to make it a 17-5 lead for the Big Red.

Despite the Big Green holding possession for the majority of the final stanza, Cornell still scored the first two tallies of the quarter with Glynn scoring off a pass by Seibald, before Chris Ritchie registered an unassisted goal.

Koch and Sussman teamed up for Dartmouth's final goal with just over five minutes to play to account for the 19-6 final.

Cornell is back in action next weekend in a key Ivy League matchup, as it plays host to No. 2 Princeton, the only other undefeated team in the conference, on Schoellkopf Field at 1 p.m.
