Softball Drops Two Non-Conference Games at Syracuse

SYRACUSE, N.Y.—
The Big Red softball team lost two non-conference games at Syracuse on Wednesday night. The Orange won 3-0 in game one, and followed with an 8-0 five-inning victory in game two. Cornell moves to 31-9 overall.

Cornell totaled six hits in game one by six different batters, while Syracuse had seven to drive in three runs. Sophomore Elizabeth Dalrymple pitched the first four innings, allowing two runs, while classmate Ali Tomlinson gave up one run in the last two innings.

Syracuse was led by Jamie Kelling, who went 2-for-3 at the plate with one RBI. Nicole Miller notched a solo homer, while Kelsey Saco also drove in a run. Jenna Caira picked up the win, striking out six batters.

In game two, Jessy Berkey, Izzy Pines and Morgan Cawley each notched a hit for Cornell. Freshman Lauren Marx pitched 3.1 innings, and Syracuse drove in five runs. Classmate Jenna Stoller faced five batters in the fourth inning, and Tomlinson finished out the inning.

Syracuse was led by Stephanie Watts and Saco, who each had two RBI. Lacey Kohl went 2-for-2 at the plate. Brittany Gardner picked up the win, striking out five batters.

Cornell will return to action this weekend when it will play four games at Columbia.
