HAMILTON, N.Y. -- The Cornell women's hockey team skated to a 3-3 tie against its Central New York rival Colgate on Friday afternoon at Starr Rink in Hamilton, N.Y. Karlee Overguard, Amber Overguard and Catherine White each scored a goal for the Big Red on the day as they moved to 9-7-4 on the year and 8-1-4 in ECAC Hockey play.

After a scoreless first period, the Big Red got on the board in a crazy second period that saw the two teams combine for five goals in the first 10 minutes of the frame. Amber Overguard scored just 1:41 into the period with Kendice Ogilvie and Liz Zorn each picking up assists on the play. That lead would last just 1:06 as Colgate's Katie Stewart scored the first of her two goals, picking up assists from Jacquie Colborne and Jordan Brickner.

Four minutes later, Stewart scored her second goal of the night, this time with Amanda Kirwan and Marissa Dombovy collecting assists. Again, though, the lead would not stand for long as Karlee Overguard got her goal 34 seconds later with Laura Fortino and Lauriane Rougeau picking up assists.

Just 56 seconds later, White scored on a power play, just 16 seconds after Jenna Klynstra was called for interference. Again, Fortino picked up an assist, with Melanie Jue collecting the second.

Then, the two teams would go scoreless for another 20 minutes until Colgate's Ali Edell knotted things up midway through the third period with an even strength goal from Stewart and Dombovy.

Cornell goaltender Amanda Mazzotta stopped 15 shots in earning the tie, while Colgate netminder Lisa Plenderleith stopped 33 shots for the Raiders. Cornell went 1-for-7 on the power play, with Colgate going 0-for-7 with the man advantage.

The two teams will go at it again on Saturday, this time with the scene shifting to Cornell's Lynah Rink. Saturday's contest will begin at 3 p.m.
