THE MATCHUP – The Big Red welcomes Binghamton and Rutgers this weekend to the Reis Tennis Center, on Friday, Feb. 19 and Sunday, Feb. 21, respectively. The match against Binghamton is set to start at 4:30 p.m., while the Big Red will face Rutgers at 11:00 a.m. Cornell (2-3) is looking for a win against the undefeated Bearcats (3-0) and thriving Scarlet Knights (3-1).

THE SERIES VS. BINGHAMTON – Cornell and Binghamton have met 11 times in women's tennis history with the Big Red owning a 10-1 advantage in the series, despite the Bearcats' victory over Cornell last season, 4-3, at the Reis Tennis Center. The series began in 1974 with a Big Red victory (5-0), which began a winning streak that lasted up until the Bearcats' win last season.

SCOUTING THE BEARCATS – Binghamton is currently undefeated in the 2010 season, earning victories over Seton Hall, Army and Sacred Heart. Lauren Bates was named the America East Player of the Week on Feb. 7, after leading her team to a perfect victory over Sacred Heart. For the season, she has posted a 3-0 record at the No. 1 singles spot and has gone 2-1 at No. 1 doubles, falling only to Army. Bates is currently ranked ninth in the Bearcats' history for singles wins with an overall career record of 61-24.

LAST TIME VS BINGHAMTON – The Bearcats took their first-ever program win over Cornell with a 4-3 decision. The Big Red fell as Binghamton grabbed the doubles point and secured the victory with five singles wins. In doubles, Elizabeth Googe and Shayna Miller teamed up to defeat Basak Gone and Marina Bykovskaya at the No. 2 position, 8-3. Catherine Duboc picked up a win at the No. 5 singles slot for Cornell, but that would not suffice for a Big Red win.

THE SERIES VS. RUTGERS – Cornell and Rutgers have met 11 times in women's tennis history with the Scarlet Knights taking the 7-4 advantage in the series after last season's 6-1 victory over the Big Red at the Busch Tennis Bubble. The series began on April 22, 1990 when Rutgers earned a 5-4 victory in N.J.

SCOUTING THE SCARLET KNIGHTS – Rutgers is currently on a three-game winning streak after falling to Syracuse in its first match of 2010 to improve to 3-1 on the season. Last weekend against Lehigh, junior Amy Zhang and senior Katherine Arlak led the way, earning victories at No. 1 and No. 3 singles, respectively, and a pair victory at No. 1 doubles. Against Maryland, Jennifer Holtzberg helped the Scarlet Knights to their second victory of the weekend.

LAST TIME VS. RUTGERS – Rutgers continued its lead over Cornell with a 6-1 win at home last season. The Scarlet Knights swept doubles play and won five of the singles matches. The Big Red picked up a win at the No. 2 position from Stephanie Kent, defeating Katherine Arlak (6-0, 6-2), but it wasn't enough for a Big Red victory.

LAST TIME OUT FOR CORNELL – This past weekend, Cornell competed in its last indoor tournament of the season. The Big Red defeated Columbia, 3-1, at the ECAC Division I Indoor Tennis Championship. Cornell picked up singles victories from Kristin Lim at No. 2, Sarah O'Neil at No. 3 and Susan Sullivan at No. 4, as well as the doubles point with a victory from the team of Ruxandra Dumitrescu and Natalia Sanchez.
