THE STORY LINE VS. DARTMOUTH: After knocking off nationally ranked Princeton for the first time since 1988, Cornell will attempt to pick off another perennial Ivy power when it meets Dartmouth on Saturday, April 10 at 12 p.m. at Schoellkopf Field.

SCOUTING DARTMOUTH: Perennially one of the top teams in the Ivy League and in all of Division I, Dartmouth is off to a 8-1 start and is ranked No. 7 nationally heading into the weekend. Under the direction of head coach Amy Patton, Dartmouth opponents are scoring just 6.4 goals per game and the Big Green in outscoring opponents by nearly eight goals per game. Leading the offensive charge is Greta Meyer, who has scored 25 goals with 18 assists. Six other players have reached double figures in goals, including Sarah Plumb, who has 15 goals and 11 assists. Plumb also paces the team in caused turnovers (18) and ground balls (17), while standing second in draw controls (21). In goal, Julie Wadland has a .491 save percentage and an impressive 6.58 goals against average while starting all nine contests. The Big Green extended its win streak to eight with an 18-6 midweek victory over Siena and has road victories over both Notre Dame and Syracuse.

THE SERIES: Dartmouth holds a commanding 24-6 lead in the all-time series, though the Big Red is 3-5 in the last eight. Four of the last nine meetings between the teams have been decided by a single goal. Cornell is 3-1 at home in the last four meetings in Ithaca.

LAST TIME OUT: Cornell scored the game's final three goals to snap a 22-game losing streak to Princeton, knocking off the nation's 17th-ranked team with an 11-8 victory over the Tigers on April 3 at Princeton Stadium. The victory was just the second all-time at Princeton (2-14) and was the first of any kind against the perennial national power since 1988, an 8-2 Big Red victory in Ithaca. It was the first win over the Tigers under head coach Jenny Graap '86, who ranks second on the school's career victories list. Shannon McHugh scored the go-ahead goal with 14:51 remaining and the Big Red defense did the rest, holding the home team scoreless in the final 18:53 and to just one goal in the final 25 minutes. Julie Klatzkin had her first career hat trick for the Big Red, including icing the game with the final two scores, and Jessi Steinberg added three goals and an assist and Libby Johnson was credited with two goals and two helpers. Katie Kirk rounded out the offense with a pair of scores. Defensively, Kate Ivory won seven ground balls and caused three turnovers for Cornell in front of Kyla Dambach, who made a career-best 12 saves in picking up the win. She stopped six of the nine shots that got through to her in the second 30 minutes of action. Princeton got three goals from Kristin Morrison, while Maisie Devine scored twice.  Erin Tochihara made seven saves in the cage. The Tigers held a 27-22 advantage in shots and dominated the draw circle (13-7) in the loss.

SNAP OUT OF IT: Cornell rebounded from four-game losing streaks each of the last two seasons by getting on a bit of a roll. In 2009, Cornell answered a four-game skid by winning four of its next five, including victories over a pair of ranked teams (New Hampshire and Vanderbilt) and having its only loss be a three-goal decision at No. 8 Syracuse. The previous year, Cornell ran off wins in five of its next six contests after losing four straight. Included among the wins were ranked opponents Dartmouth, Stanford and Yale. This season, the Big Red snapped a four-game skid with an 11-8 victory at No. 17 Princeton last weekend.

THE DRAW: Sophomore Jessi Steinberg, who leads the team in draw controls and stands fifth in the Ivy League, set a Cornell single-game record by winning eight re-starts in a loss to Hofstra. The previous record of seven was set by Jaimee Reynolds against Brown in 1999, then matched by Charlotte Schmidlapp against the Bears eight years later. Through eight games in 2010, Steinberg has registered 23 draws.

IVORY NAMED IVY DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Freshman defender Kate Ivory was named the Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week after her outstanding effort helped the Big Red snap a 22-game losing skid to No. 17 Princeton in an 11-8 victory on April 3. Ivory caused three turnovers and won seven ground balls to pick up the team's first win over the Tigers since 1988. Ivory caused a pair of turnovers and won five possessions on ground balls in the decisive second half. She matched her season totals in both ground balls and draw controls from the first eight contests. Ivory defended Princeton's Barbara Previ, holding the high-scoring sophomore to a pair of assists in the win.

O'CONNOR, HALE, JOHNSON NAMED TEAM CAPTAINS: Seniors Tissy O'Connor and Morgan Hale and junior Libby Johnson have been elected captains of the women's lacrosse team for the 2010 season. The trio will provide leadership to a young team that features 19 freshmen and sophomores on a 26-player roster.

O'CONNOR A RETURNING ALL-AMERICAN: Senior Tissy O'Connor  became Cornell's 16th All-American, earning second-team IWLCA honors when the team was announced in May of 2009. O'Connor was a unanimous first-team All-Ivy honoree and a first-team all-region pick after pacing the team in draw controls (43) and ranking second in ground balls (30) and caused turnovers (19). The 43 draws was good for third in the Ivy League and ranks second all-time in a season at Cornell.

O'CONNOR, STEINBERG ON TEWAARATON WATCH LIST: Senior Tissy O'Connor and sophomore Jessi Steinberg are on the Tewaaraton Trophy Watch List for the national player of the year in women's lacrosse. O'Connor was on the initial list released in February, while Steinberg's play in the first half of the season got her added in March.

HELMER MAKES CUT AT U.S. WOMEN'S TEAM TRYOUTS: Sophomore Caroline Helmer and former captain Deirdre Lafferty '09 were among 64 players who survived the first cut for inclusion on the 2009-10 U.S. women's developmental team. Both Lafferty, a midfielder, and Helmer, a defender, were among more than 150 players in the Stars & Stripes Division vying for spots at the U.S. team tryouts over Memorial Day Weekend at Cedar Lane Sports Park in Bel Air, Md. The developmental team practices against the national team, developing talent and preparing the senior team for international play. Helmer showed great potential as a freshman, starting in 10 of the team's 16 contests and recording 14 ground balls, 11 caused turnovers and a pair of draw controls.

BIG RED, DEFENDING NCAA CHAMP NORTHWESTERN PLAY IN RUSTY RED CLASSIC: Cornell and defending national champion Northwestern met in the Rusty Red Fall Lax Classic on Oct. 18 at Poly Prep Country Day School in Brooklyn, N.Y. The event provided underprivileged youth with the opportunity to see women's lacrosse played at the highest level, learn from some of the nation's best players and get excited about the opportunities the sport has to offer with a free clinic and an autograph session after the game. The Rusty Red Foundation, a charitable organization founded by Cornell lacrosse former tri-captain Joe Lizzio, helps youth programs across the United States. Lizzio, a former managing director at Citigroup, went from Wall Street to Italy where he now owns the Stefano Berti Vineyards and Winery. Cornell played a semi-professional team and the Austrian and Czech national teams in preparation for their competition at the 2009 FIL Women's World Cup. The Big Red won all three matches, improving its record to 12-3 all-time on foreign tours.
