THE MATCHUP – Cornell (9-7) will continue Ivy League play on the road this weekend. The Big Red will face Brown (13-6) on Saturday, April 9, at 12:00 p.m., at the Varsity Tennis Center, before facing Yale (9-8) April 10, at 12:00 p.m., at the Cullman-Haymen Tennis Center.
THE SERIES VS. BROWN – The series began in 1983 when the Bears beat the Big Red 9-0. The Big Red took its first win in 1994, trouncing the Bears 7-0 in Providence, R.I. In recent history, the Bears have kept up their legacy, taking seven out of the past ten matchups en route to an a 22-7 lead in the series.
SCOUTING THE BEARS – Brown is currently undefeated in the Ivy League after the first weekend of Ancient Eight competition. Last weekend the Bears trounced both Princeton and Penn, 6-1. Against both teams Brown took the doubles point and all but one of the singles matches.
A WIN OVER BROWN WOULD – Bring the Big Red to a .500 record in the Ivy League and be Cornell's first spring win over Brown since 2008.
LAST TIME VS. THE BEARS– Last season, the Big Red fell to Brown, 5-2, at the Reis Tennis Center. The Bears picked up the doubles point and wins in the top four singles spots.
THE SERIES VS. YALE – Cornell and Yale first met in 1980 when the Bulldogs defeated the Big Red 8-0. Yale leads the series 26-3. The three Big Red wins against the Bulldogs came in 1995, 1996 and 1997.
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS – Yale is having a winning season with an overall record of 16-4. They are currently undefeated at home for the season, racking in nine wins in New Haven. They'll face Cornell after matching up against Columbia (9-9, 0-3) on Saturday. The Bulldogs are 1-1 in conference play after taking down Penn (5-2) and falling short against Princeton (5-2) last weekend. They took the doubles point and all but the No. 1 and No. 6 singles matches against Penn but were only able to earn points at the No. 3 and No. 6 singles spots versus Princeton.
A WIN OVER YALE WOULD – Be the Big Red's first victory over the Bulldogs since 1997.
LAST TIME VS. THE BULLDOGS– In their last meeting, Cornell fell to Yale, 7-0, on April 9, 2010 at the Reis Tennis Center.
LAST TIME OUT FOR CORNELL – On Wednesday, the Big Red defeated Columbia 4-3 at the Reis Tennis Center. Cornell picked up the doubles point and the No. 2, No. 3 and No. 6 to take the win.
UP NEXT – Next weekend the Big Red will host Penn at the Reis Tennis Center on Friday, April 15 at 3:00p.m., before traveling to Princeton, to face the Tigers on Sunday, April 17 at 11:00 a.m.
