ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Cornell women's polo team got right back on track after a loss to No. 1 Virginia, dropping Texas A&M 18-11 on Saturday evening at Oxley Equestrian Center. The Big Red improved to 9-5 with the victory.
Texas A&M was making the East Coast sweep and played at Connecticut before coming to Ithaca to take on the Big Red. They lost at UConn, but those games sharpened them up for Cornell. The Aggies fought back and won the third to take a goal off of Cornell's lead (13-8), but the Big Red came out hard in the fourth and pulled out to an 18-10 lead before the Aggies scored right at the end of the match to make it 18-11.
Kailey Eldredge tallied 11 goals to lead the Big Red, while
Ali Hoffman had six and
Amanda Stern scored one.
Cornell will compete in the Northeast Regional championship from March 29-April 1.
