PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -- After 16 conference games, Cornell and Penn are all square at the top of the Ivy League South Division standings. It was fitting the teams split Saturday's doubleheader to stay that way. Cornell responded to losing the first three games of the series, including 9-2 in game one, by posting a 5-0 shutout of the Quakers in game two. Cornell is an even 20-20 overall and is 11-5 in Ivy play, while Penn is now 27-15 and 11-5 in league action.

Sophomore Alyson Onyon scattered five hits in the game two shutout, striking out six to win her 10th game of the season. She was backed up by a three-run first inning that featured RBI singles by Christina Villalon and Lauren Bucolo. Jenny Edwards also homered in the second to add an insurance run, and the Quakers' powerful offense only had two runners reach third base. Edwards was 3-for-4 with two runs scored and both Villalon and Bucolo were 2-for-4 at the plate in game two.

Penn jumped all over the Big Red in game one to briefly take a one-game lead in the South division standings, scoring eight runs in the first two innings. Linda Laeufer was 2-for-3 as Cornell could only muster seven singles on the day. Kristen Towne and Erin Keene each drove in runs and Lauren Marx held the Quakers at bay after their early explosion. She surrendered just one earned run over the final four innings.

After a midweek series at Ithaca College on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m., the Big Red will begin a four-game set at Princeton beginning on Saturday, April 28 at 12:30 p.m.
