Gabby Sullivan won a singles match, and the tandem of junior
Christine Ordway and sophomore
Ryann Young won the No. 2 match in doubles, but the Big Red women's tennis team fell to Harvard on Friday afternoon, 6-1.
The Crimson opened the match by taking the doubles point, despite the Ordway/Young 8-3 victory over Hannah Morrill and Kristin Norton. Harvard won the No. 1 match in a tiebreaker to clinch the opening point.
Sullivan's victory came at the No. 4 spot in singles over Natalie Blosser, 6-1, 6-2. She is now 9-4 in dual matches this season, including a dominating 6-1 from the No. 4 position. Five sets in the other singles matches required the victor to win seven games , but the Crimson won all of them en route to straight-set victories.
Harvard (8-4, 1-0 Ivy League) is now 16-0 all-time at home against Cornell (8-6, 0-2). The Big Red wraps up its stretch of six straight matches on the road at noon Saturday at Dartmouth.
