Rich Bowman, the Alan B. '53 and Elizabeth Heekin Harris Head Coach of Women's Track and Field and Cross Country has announced the 22 newcomers who will join the Big Red women's program for the 2015-16 academic year. The Cornell women, who have won four Ivy League Heptagonals team titles in cross country and outdoor track over the past four academic years, will return an accomplished team in 2015-16 and the recruited class of 2019 will bolster the team's fortunes right away. Representing 11 different states and provinces, the group includes a wealth of talent, highlighted by five state and provincial champions, and four state silver medalists. Incoming Player BiographiesMary BargerPittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Mendon HS/College of Arts and SciencesBarger is a gifted cross country runner (she placed 11
th at the NY Nike Regional cross country championships) and a highly competitive middle distance runner on the track, with a personal best of 2:57 for 1000 meters. In 2012 at Fayetteville Manlius, Barger's cross country team were Section III Champions, NY State Class A Champions and Nike Cross Country Nationals Team Champions. At Pittsford Mendon, Barger was the Section V Individual Cross Country Champion in 2013. Her team took home the section title that year and again when she was captain in 2014. On the track, Barger won sectional titles in the 1000 meters, 1500 and 4x800 relay. She was a four-time letter winner in cross country and indoor and outdoor track.
Ellery BiancoSaratoga, N.Y./Saratoga Springs HS/College of Agriculture and Life SciencesA spectacular all-around athlete and relay runner, Bianco excelled in the 400 meter hurdles at Saratoga Springs High School. A four-year indoor and outdoor track captain and letter winner, she finished second in the 2014 New York State meet with a best of 60.06 and was named Track Athlete of the Year in by the Saratoga News. Bianco also played soccer at Saratoga Springs, earning four letters and First Team All Star honors in 2013 and 2014.
Sochima BishopNew Rochelle, N.Y./New Rochelle HS/College of Agriculture and Life SciencesOne of New York's best hammer/weight throwers, Sochima has personal bests of 149 feet, 7 inches in the hammer and 47 feet in the weight. She was a three-time letter winner in indoor and outdoor track and was an All-Section and All-County selection. In addition, she was a member of two academic honor societies.
Briar BrumleyLadera Ranch, Calif./Tesoro HS/College of Agriculture and Life SciencesA relative newcomer to year-round distance running, Brumley had a terrific senior year, placing sixth in the California Division 2 state cross country meet and setting personal bests of 2:14 for 800 and 4:54 for 1600 meters on the track. A two-time captain in both cross country and track, she led the cross country team to a league championship in 2014 and track to a league championship in 2015. She also holds the school record in the 800 with a time of 2:14.86.
Zoe CamillaciHilton, N.Y./Hilton HS/College of Agriculture and Life SciencesA fourth-place finisher at the New York state meet, Camilacci has a best of 11 feet, 9 inches in the pole vault. A seven-time Section V Champion, she was named First Team All-Greater Rochester five times between 2013 and 2015. She was captain of the Hilton cross country and track and field teams for three years.
Autumn CovingtonSurrey, B.C. /Little Flower Academy/College of Arts and SciencesCovington was the third-overall-ranked hammer thrower and third-overall-ranked discus thrower for high school-aged athletes in Canada. In 2014, she won High School Provincials before becoming captain of the Little Flower Academy track team her senior season. Her personal bests are 164 feet, 7 inches in the hammer, 132-1 in the discus and 52-6 in the weight.
Imani DavisAkron, Ohio/St. Vincent and St. Mary's HS/College of Arts and SciencesA third-place finisher in her Ohio state championships, Davis has a best of 56.46 seconds at 400 meters and matches with an excellent 200 best of 24.98. Her relays teams were hugely successful and regularly scored in state competition. She was named to the All-Ohio team all four years of high school and captained the track and field team in 2014 and 2015. In addition, she was a member of two academic honor societies.
Eve GlasergreenClinton, N.J./North Hunterdon HS/College of Arts and SciencesOne of the top distance runners in the nation in high school, Glasergreen qualified for the 2014 Footlocker National Championships in cross country. A several time state champion, she owns personal bests on the track of 4:52 for 1600 and 10:26 for 3200 meters. She was runner-up at the New Jersey Cross Country Meet of Champions in 2014 and also placed second at the Meet of Champions in outdoor track in the 3200 meters in 2015. In addition, Glasergreen was a member of the French and art honor societies.
Cassidy JenkinsScott Township, Penn./Lakeland HS/College of Agriculture and Life SciencesTwo-time female athlete of the year and All-Region performer, Jenkins rewrote the record books as a senior at Lakeland. She finished second in the Pennsylvania state meet in 2015, running 14.28 at 100 hurdles and 43.83 for fifth at 300 hurdles. She was also the PIAA District 2 Champion in the 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles all four years and captained the Lakeland team to its second straight District 2 Championship in 2015. Her performances also earned her Lackawanna League Coaches' All Star honors each year from 2012-15 and Times Tribute Runner of the Year 2013-15. Jenkins was also an All-Region, Lackawanna League First Team All Star in soccer and a member of two academic honor societies.
Sarah MasukewiczFlanders, N.J./Mount Olive HS/College of Agriculture and Life SciencesMasukewicz was one of the top distance runners in New Jersey in high school, earning All-County honors in cross country her junior year, when the Mount Olive team was state group team champions. She was the state sectional champion in the indoor 1600 meters her freshman year and was named All-Group 3 her sophomore year for her performance in the outdoor 3200. A cross country and indoor and outdoor track captain her senior year, Masukewicz holds personals bests of 5:02 for 1600 and 10:53 for 3200 meters.
Leena L. MorrisWoodstock, Ga./Etowah HS/College of Agriculture and Life SciencesMorris, an All-American in the shot put, discus and hammer, was one of the top throwers in Georgia, breaking the Etowah High School, county and region records in shot put and discus. She won a Georgia state championship title in the shot put as a junior and USATF state championship titles in the shot put twice and the discus once. As the second female athlete in school history to place fist in any state event, she holds personal records of 44 feet, 10 inches in the shot put, 142-11 in the discus, and 53-10 in the weight. She was the Etowah High School Most Outstanding Female Athlete in 2015 and a Principal's Award Winner.
KC Lynn MouldenEnumclaw, Wash./Enumclaw HS/College of Agriculture and Life SciencesMoulden is a two-time shot put Washington state champion and three-time state champion in wrestling. In the field, her personal bests are 46 feet, 7 inches in the shot and 135-9 in the discus. A four-time letter winner in wrestling and track, she served as wrestling captain for three years and track captain for one.
Suzie PetrykHuntington, N.Y./Huntington HS/College of EngineeringOne of the top steeplechasers in the nation as a senior, Petryk ran 6:55 for the 3K steeplechase and was a highly competitive 800 meter runner as well, with a personal best of 2:13. She captained the Huntington High School track team to a spring track division title in 2015 while earning All-State honors in the 1000 and 2K steeplechase and All-County honors in the 800. She earned five letters in winter track, four in spring track and three in cross country and holds several school records. Off the track, Petryk was a member of seven academic honor societies.
Kat QuigleyWexford, Penn./Pine-Richland HS/College of Agriculture and Life SciencesAs the top hurdle performer in the Pittsburgh area, Quigley was dominant. At 2014 Pennsylvania State Outdoor Championships, she finished second in the 300 meter hurdles and fifth in the 100 hurdles with a personal best of 14.44 seconds. A year later as a senior, she finished third in both events. She holds the Pine-Richland school record in the 300 hurdles with a time of 42.78. She was also a member of the school-record-setting 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams. Indoors, she covered the 60 hurdle with a best of 8.87. In addition to her four letters in track, Quigley earned three in volleyball as an outside hitter.
Brenna RemickHolmdel, N.J./St. John Vianney HS/College of Arts and SciencesA four-year letter winner in track and cross country, Remick posted personal best times of 2:16 in the 800 meters, a St. John Vianney High School record, and 5:02 for in the 1600. She was captain of the track and cross country teams her senior year and was a member of two academic honor societies.
Stephanie RyallToronto, Ont./Westdale Secondary/ College of Arts and SciencesOne of Ontario's best in cross country, Ryall has impressive personal bests on the track as well, having run 4:37 for 1500 and 9:57 for 3000 meters. She helped the Westdale Secondary cross country team to an Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations silver medal. In addition, Ryall had the top biology, physics and chemistry average in the school board.
Grace SmithSingerlands, N.Y./Bethlehem Central HS/College of Agriculture and Life SciencesThe 2014 New York state high jump champion, Smith was a dominant force in the Albany area. Her best is 5 feet, 7 inches, and she was the Eastern States indoor champion in 2015. In 2014, she finished 15
th at Nationals after placing fourth at Eastern States. She was also a member of two academic honor societies.
Michaela SmithNewtonville, Mass./University of Rhode Island/College of Agriculture and Life SciencesAn incoming sophomore transfer from the University of Rhode Island, Smith was one of the top throwers in the Atlantic 10 conference. In the shot put, she placed fourth at the indoor championships (43 feet, 3 inches) and third in the outdoor championships (42-11). She also placed seventh in the discus (125-0) at the outdoor championships.
Annie TaylorCharlottesville, Va./Western Albemarle HS/College of EngineeringPerennially one of the top middle distance and distance runners in Virginia throughout her high school career, Taylor was the Virginia 3A Outdoor Track & Field Champion in the 1600 meters. She was named the Central Virginia Runner of the Year in 2013 and 2014, a Marine Corps Distinguished Athlete in 2015 and the Western Albemarle High School Cross Country, Indoor Track and Outdoor Track MVP all four years. Taylor is a multiple-time region champion in the 800, 1000, 1600 and 3200 and district champion in 400, 800, 1000, 1600, 3200 and cross country. She has also earned All-State honors in cross country, outdoor 800 and indoor and outdoor 1000, 1600 and 3200. In addition to her running success, Taylor was a Virginia Aerospace Science and Technology Scholar and concertmaster of the school orchestra.
Gracie ToddEugene, Ore./Sheldon HS/College of Arts and SciencesThe sixth-place finisher at the 2014 Oregon state cross country meet, Todd was also one of the top runners in the state in track, with personal bests of 4:44 for 1500 and 10:06 for 3000 meters. She earned four letters in cross country and three in track as a distance runner.
Christina WelzerDemarest, N.J./Northern Valley Regional HS/College of Architecture, Art and Planning Welzer had a tremendous senior season, finishing fourth at the New Jersey Meet of Champions in the 400 meter hurdles, running a personal best 61.71. She also excels at the 100 hurdles and was ranked number no. 3 indoors in New Jersey in the 800 as junior. She earned four letters in spring track and three in both winter track and cross country.
Olivia YoungKennett Square, Penn./Unionville HS/College of EngineeringIn her time at Unionville High School, Young placed third at the Nike Northeast Regional cross country championships, leading the powerhouse Unionville team to another team berth at the Nike National Championships. The team won the Pennsylvania state championship in 2013 and was runner-up Young's other three years. Young was a three-time All-American at New Balance Nationals in the 4xMile relay and distance medley relay and a 12-time Pennsylvania State medalist. She has run 4:57 for 1600 meters and 10:44 for 3200 on the track.
