ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Cornell women's polo team advanced to the finals of the William S. Field Invitational this past weekend, topping Skidmore 26-5 in the semifinals before dropping a well-played 13-8 decision to No. 2 Texas A&M in the finals. The Big Red are 3-5 on the year.

Shariah Harris broke an early 1-1 tie with five unanswered goals to take a 6-1 lead after one. The Big Red continued to grow its lead by adding 12 goals in the second chukker to make it 18-2 at the half. The three starters took a seat to watch

Jennifer Nelson carry the torch in the third. This trio added a goal to the lead as the Big Red went into the fourth chukker up 22-5. Cornell would cruise home to advance to the finals with a 26-5 win.
In the finals, Eldredge, Harris and Noyes showed how far they have come by pushing the Aggies to their limit. In a defensive battle, the two teams fought to a 2-2 tie after one. The Big Red continued to show well in the second by shutting out the Aggies and taking a 4-2 halftime lead. The Aggies came back with a strong third and took a 7-6 lead into the fourth. Cornell continued to fight through the fourth, trading goals for the first three quarters of the chukker. In the last 1:30, the Aggies punched through and took home the win by a 13-8 margin.
