KENT, Ohio -- Freshman
Kaitlin Green tied her own school record on beam and the Cornell gymnastics team posted the sixth-highest team score in history as the Big Red dropped a dual meet on Sunday afternoon at Kent State. Cornell scored 193.175, but couldn't overcome the Golden Flashes' 196.000.
Green tied for first on beam with her second 9.900 of the year, matching Ali Marrero of Kent State as well as the Cornell record.
Lyanda Dudley finished sixth with a 9.750. She also was the lone all-arounder, posting a strong 38.625.
Malia Mackey tied for first with a 9.800 on vault, joining a pair of Kent State gymnasts.
Alicia Bair was sixth with a 9.725 and
Sara Schupp and Dudley tied for ninth with a 9.650.
Green backed up her beam score with a seventh place on bars with a 9.750, while
Elana Molotsky was eighths with a 9.700.
Joy Gage had the team's highest score on floor with a 9.800, good for seventh overall. Not far behind was
Julohn Teixeira (9.775) and
Alexandria Bourgeois (9.775), both tied for eighth overall.
