HANOVER, N.H. — Sophomore
Priyanka Shah won her seventh consecutive singles match, but the women's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision on Saturday to 49th-ranked Dartmouth at Boss Tennis Center. The loss leaves Cornell 12-7 overall and 1-2 in Ivy League play with two weeks left in the season.
Competing at the No. 6 position as she has for other league matches to date, Shah won in straight sets over Allison Chuang to tie the score at 1 after Dartmouth (10-4, 1-1) got on the board with the doubles point.
The Big Green by winning two other singles matches in straight sets, with a third set needed to determine the winners of the final three. Cornell would have had to win all of them, but Dartmouth ended up coming out on top in each for its first Ancient Eight victory of the season.
Cornell returns to action next weekend when it hosts Brown at noon Saturday and Yale at noon Sunday at Reis Tennis Center in Ithaca, N.Y.
