PRINCETON, N.J. – USRowing has announced that three Big Red heavyweight rowers – senior Ilia Savin, junior Finn Putnam, and sophomore Raymond Weeks – will be among the 29 participants invited to the 2017 U.S. Men's Under 23 National Team Selection Camp in Oklahoma City, Okla.
 
"Ilia, Finn, and Ray are the continued proof of what hard work can accomplish," said Todd Kennett, the Spirit of '57 Director of Rowing/Head Coach of Heavyweight Rowing. "All three have done a great job of getting in the meters needed to strengthen themselves, and at the same time to improve their technical knowledge."
 
Cornell's three selections are tied with Yale for the second most by any university, behind only Wisconsin, and is the most by any Ivy League school. In total, 11 Ivy League rowers were selected with six coming from the Big Red and Bulldogs, and two each form Harvard and Princeton, with one coming from Brown.
 
"These three also are a continuation of a long line of Cornell athletes who have been invited to this selection camp," added Kennett. "Cornell has been able to provide the facilities and knowledge to create a great development system for athletes to rise to this level. The three athletes selected this year continue to provide proof of that. I am very proud they were selected, and wish them the best in their efforts to make a boat, and hopefully to race for the USA!"
 
The camp will be coached by Dave O'Neill (University of Texas), who will be assisted by Brian De Regt (Oakland Strokes). The coaches will be in charge of selecting the men's eight and four to compete at the World Rowing Under 23 Championships July 19-23 in Plovdiv, Bulgaria.
