Bynoe Wins Singles Flight Championship at Ivy-Plus

PRINCETON, N.J. — Evan Bynoe defeated LSU's Agie Moreno, 6-2, 6-2, on Sunday morning to win the 'Pagoda' Flight singles championship and highlight the men's tennis team's weekend at the Ivy-Plus Invitational.

Twenty programs sent competitors to Princeton for the weekend, with 96 players competing across six singles draws and six eight-pair doubles draws. For a second straight year, the Ivy-Plus was a dual-venue tournament – but unlike last year, the Big Red did not send any competitors to the portion of the event hosted by Yale. No team scores were kept.

Cornell made it to two championship matches, one in singles and one in doubles – and both involved Bynoe. He started Sunday's play alongside Lev Kazakov in the 'White' Flight doubles final, which resulted in a 6-4 loss to the Dartmouth tandem of Peter Conklin and Casey Ross. Bynoe then rebounded with the win over Moreno.

Cornell won five of its six contested singles matches to open play on Friday, but all but Bynoe were eliminated from main-draw contention in Saturday's quarterfinal rounds.

The Big Red is back in action Oct. 11-16, when it returns to Princeton to compete in the ITA Northeast Region Championships. Cornell's results from this weekend's competition are as follows …
