ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Cornell gymnastics team won three individual events and on all four team events in picking up a dual meet victory over SUNY Cortland on Saturday afternoon at Teagle Gymnasium. The Big Red scored a season-high 192.150 to cruise past the Red Dragons (184.800).
Starting on vault, Cornell posted a 47.325 and never trailed the dual. Sara Maughn and
Maci Prescott tied for second with twin 9.550's to pace the Big Red there.
The home team took control in the second rotation, with the top four finishers on bars all wearing Cornell leotards.
Christina Luniewicz captured first with a 9.825, good for the eighth-highest score in school history. Both
Kelsy Kurfirst and
Lyanda Dudley were credited with 9.8's to tie for second.
Malia Mackey tied for first on beam with Cortland's Emma Schultz at 9.775, with the Big Red racking up the next five finishers en route to a 48.575 score in the event.
Miranda Lund and Dudley tied for third with a 9.725.
Samantha Henry wrapped up Cornell's successful afternoon on floor, topping the podium with a 9.825.
Claire Haklik was second with a 9.800 as the Big Red hit 48.350 on the afternoon.
The Big Red returns to the road for a dual meet with Penn on Sunday. Feb. 3 at 1 p.m. at The Palestra.
