HAMILTON, N.Y. -- Colgate used a 23-2 second half run to erase a double-digit deficit and the reigning Patriot League champions used that momentum to top Cornell 66-58 on Wednesday evening at Cotterell Court, The Big Red fell to 1-8 on the season, while the Raiders improved to 7-4.

Josh Warren had 12 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Big Red, while junior
Jimmy Boeheim chipped in 11 points, all in the first half, to go along with five rebounds and three assists. Junior
Terrance McBride and freshman
Jordan Jones each had nine points and six rebounds
Riley Voss had seven points and
Bryan Knapp was credited with four points, three rebounds and three assists as Cornell suffered its eight straight defeat. The Big Red shot just 28 percent in the decisive second half after hitting on 61 percent in the first 20 minutes.
Four Colgate players reached double figures and three more had at least seven points as the Raiders erased a double-digit second half deficit. Cornell had a 38-28 edge on the glass, but the Raiders turned the ball over just six times Keegan Records had 12 points and nine boards off the bench while Jordan Burns, Nelly Cummings and Tucker Richardson had 10 each.
With the Big Red leading 44-33 after the second of four straight paint points by Jones forced a Colgate timeout, Cornell missed 16 of its next 17 shots over the next 12:54 as the Raiders went up 10. Cornell got within five points twice and had six possessions to get within a basket, but missed three shots and turned it over three times. Jack Ferguson's three-point play on a throw-ahead, part of Colgate's 15-0 edge in fastbreak points, gave Colgate its first lead since 8-7 midway through the second half and never looked back. Terrance McBride with 9:48 left, but Richardson nailed a trey on the other end followed by a bucket by Cummings and the Raiders never led by fewer than five the rest of the way.
First Half
• Cornell hit its first six shots and spurted out to a 21-10 lead, with Boeheim scoring seven.
• An 8-0 Colgate run spurred by a 3-pointer by Burns and five straight by Ferguson forced a Big Red timeout with 8:31 to play with the visitors clinging to a 21-18 lead.
• Six straight Big Red points gave Cornell some breathing room and Cornell maintained a lead, going into the break with a 38-33 edge.
• Cornell hit on 68 percent of its shots inside the arc and was 4-of-8 behind it.
• The Big Red also outrebounded the Raiders 15-12 while leading the entire final 17 minutes of the half.
• Boeheim scored 11 points and added three rebounds and two assists, while McBride and Voss each had seven points while combining to shoot 6-of-7 from the floor.
• Burns had eight points to lead the Raiders, while Records notched four points and five boards.
Second Half
• The Big Red took back the momentum out of the locker room, scoring six straight over the first 90 seconds to force a Colgate timeout.
• Cornell had a chance to build on its 11-point lead but went scoreless for 8:39 as it watched the home team whittle the lead to regain the lead with 10 minutes to play.
• As the visitors continued to misfire, Colgate connected on 3-pointers by Richardson and Rapolas Ivanauskas to take a 10-point lead.
• The Big Red clawed back to within five, the last time with 1:41 left, but couldn't get the game within a single possession.
• Cornell missed all eight of its second half 3-pointers and made just 7-of-25 shots overall (28 percent) in the final 20 minutes.
Next Up
• After an 11-day break for final exams, Cornell will hit the road to face Hartford on Sunday, Dec. 22 at 2 p.m. in West Hartford, Conn.
• Hartford leads the all-time series 3-0 dating back to the first meeting between the teams during the 1984-85 season.
