Beyond The Box Score: Columbia Game

1/20/2020 10:30:00 AM

ITHACA, N.Y. -- Here are some notes from Saturday's 75-61 loss at Columbia.

Individuals

  • Junior Terrance McBride's seven rebounds established a new career high, while his 17 points matched his previous best.
  • Over his last five contests, McBride is shooting .679 (19-of-28) from inside the 3-point arc.
  • He has at least six rebounds in four of his last six outings.
  • If McBride maintains his averages of 10.5 points, 3.9 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.4 steals, he'd become just the 12th player in school history to average at least 10 points, three rebounds, three assists and a steal in a single season.
  • The game featured the first Ivy League starts for juniors Bryan Knapp and Riley Voss.
  • Freshman Jordan Jones, Marcus Filien and Greg Dolan each scored their first points in Ivy competition.
  • Filien had a career high four rebounds in 12 minutes of action.
  • Jimmy Boeheim extended his streak of games with double figure points to nine with 14 in his return from injury.
  • Boeheim tied a career high with a pair of blocked shots to give him 25 for his career.
  • After going 4-for-4 from the free-throw line, Dean Noll is now 23-of-25 on the season (.920), a mark that if maintained would be the highest single-season free throw percentage in school history for players attempting 25 or more shots from the charity stripe.

Team

  • The Big Red's 13 offensive rebounds were the most in an Ivy League game since corralling 15 at home against Penn on Feb. 24, 2017.
  • Cornell now has double digit offensive rebounds in four straight games for the first time since the final four non-conference games of the 2014-15 campaign (Syracuse, Buffalo, Howard, Alfred State).
  • With its five 3-pointers, Cornell extended its streak of games with a trey to 874, the 12th-longest active streak in Division I.
  • The nine assists against Columbia are the fewest in a game this season by the Big Red.
  • Over its last three games, Cornell has committed just 10.0 turnovers per game.
  • The loss extended Cornell's road losing streak to 13 games.
