Beyond The Box Score: Columbia Game

ITHACA, N.Y. -- Here are some notes from Saturday's 62-50 win over Columbia.
 

Individuals 

  • Jimmy Boeheim posted his third career double-double, all coming this season (18 points, 10 rebounds).
  • With four assists and zero turnovers, Riley Voss now has 49 assists and just 15 turnovers over the past two seasons, including 25 assists and eight miscues this season.
  • Bryan Knapp had a career high two blocked shots while also posting a season high 10 points and a Cornell-best 33 minutes played.
  • Marcus Filien posted a career-best five rebounds.
  • Terrance McBride reached double figures in scoring for the 10th time this season after hitting that mark just five times over his first two seasons.
  • With his 4-of-6 effort from the floor, Josh Warren boosted his career field goal percentage to .506, No. 11 on Cornell's career list and just .001 out of the top 10.
     

Team 

  • Columbia's .317 field goal percentage is the lowest by a Big Red Division I opponent since limiting Harvard to .294 shooting in a 72-59 win last March at Newman Arena.
  • In the second half, Cornell had nine assists and just one turnover.
  • In fact, the teams combined for 13 assists and just two turnovers in the final 20 minutes.
  • The 50 points for Columbia was its second-fewest of the season behind only the 42 points it notched at defending national champion Virginia.
  • Cornell has outrebounded its opponent in four consecutive games.
  • In six home contests this year, Cornell has posted 108 assists (18.0 per game) while turning it over just 51 times (8.5 per game).
  • The Big Red is now 3-1 in the new year (3-0 at Newman Arena).
  • It is the fourth consecutive year that the two teams have split the season series.
  • The Big Red is now 20-10 at home over the last three seasons.
  • With its seven 3-pointers, Cornell has now made at least one shot beyond the arc in 875 straight games - the 12th-longest streak in Division I.
  • The Big Red had just two offensive rebounds, its fewest in a win since corralling just one miss in a 58-52 victory over Colgate on Nov. 18, 2014.
  • In three home contests in 2020, the Big Red is allowing just 50.3 points per game on .330 shooting (58-of-176) defensively and has posted 74.0 points with 61 assists and 29 turnovers on offense thanks to 50 percentshooting (88-of-176).
