Morgan Barron has signed an entry-level contract with the NHL's New York Rangers, the team announced Friday.
By signing with the team that selected him in the sixth round of the 2017 NHL Entry Draft, Barron concludes a stellar collegiate career after three seasons at Cornell. He accrued 84 points on 34 goals and 50 assists in 98 games before his junior season culminated before the playoffs, due to concerns about the imminent COVID-19 pandemic.

After serving as a co-captain for the 2019-season, Barron was named to the East Region's All-America first team after leading the Big Red in scoring for a second straight year. It made him the first Big Red forward to earn All-America honors since Matt Moulson '06 did so in 2005. He was also the first forward among first-team selections since Joe Nieuwendyk in 1987.

It was just one of a long list of a high honors. The ECAC Hockey Player of the Year was a selection on both the All-ECAC Hockey and All-Ivy League first teams, and he was the only representative from either circuit to be among the 10 finalists for the Hobey Baker Memorial Award.
Joining the professional ranks, Barron will be attempting to become the 34th Cornell hockey product to ascend to the NHL.
