Big Red Gymnastics Welcomes Class of 2025

ITHACA, N.Y. - The Cornell gymnastics team welcomes eight student-athletes who will compete for the Big Red starting in the fall of 2021. The newcomers will help Cornell build on the successful program that highlights seven Ivy Classic titles and seven runner-up finishes in the last 19 seasons, as well as seven team finalist finishes in the last 14 meets at the USA Gymnastics Collegiate Nationals. 
 

Sydney Beers

Fr. * All-Around * Bellmore, N.Y. (John F. Kennedy HS/New Image Gymnastics)
• Three-time Level 10 Junior Olympic Nationals qualifier while competing for New Image Gymnastics and attending John F. Kennedy HS.
• Won floor, took second on vault and third on beam and the all-around at the regional championships.
• Took seventh on beam and eighth on vault at the 2018 Junior Olympic National Championships.
 

Sky Knox

Fr. * All-Around * Greenville, Del. (The Baldwin School/Roth's Crosspoint Gymnastics)
• Knox was a Level 10 regional qualifier while competing at Roth's Crosspoint Gymnastics and attending The Baldwin School.
• Graduated as the most decorated female gymnast in club history, holding the most Pennsylvania state championships.
• Twice elected captain.
• Was a USA Gymnastics Eastern National Team All-Around qualifier at Level 9.
• Won a USA Gymnastics Pennsylvania state championship.
• Also competed in cheerleading and as a member of the golf team.
 

Savannah Kokaly

Fr. * All-Around * Essexville, Mich. (Garber HS/Bay Valley Academy)
• Kokaly was a regional champion while competing at Bay Valley Academy and attending Garber HS.
• Was an Eastern National qualifier.
• Earned a spot at DP nationals.
• Was a three-time level 10 regional qualifier.
• Took third on floor at the Michigan States meet.
 

Laura MacKenzie

Fr. * All-Around * Los Altos, Calif. (Los Altos HS/Gold Star Gymnastics)
• MacKenzie is a two-time state and regional Level 10 qualifier while competing at Gold Star Gymnastics and attending Los Altos HS.
• Had a top 10 finish at regionals on beam in 2021, taking eighth overall.
 

Kate Michelini

Fr. * All-Around * Ardsley, N.Y. (School of the Holy Child/ENA Paramus)
• Level 10 gymnastics regional qualifier competed at ENA Paramus while attending School of the Holy Child.
• Qualified for Junior Olympic Nationals in 2021.
• Qualified for Eastern Nationals in 2018.
• Awarded Most Spirited Gymnast in 2017.
• Served as co-captain of her club in 2020.
 

Maddie Sakalosky

Fr. * All-Around * Tampa, Fla. (Berkeley Preparatory School/Tampa Bay Turners)
• Was a six-time regional qualifier while competing for Tampa Bay Turners and attending Berkeley Preparatory School.
• Served as team captain from 2019-21.
• Earned a regional title on vault in 2017.
• Selected to receive the Margaret Dann Award for Overall Excellence in 2018.
 

Anthea Spirko

Fr. * All-Around * Amherst, Mass. (Amherst Regional HS/Daggett Gymnastics)
• Competed for Daggett Gymnastics (2020-21) and Hampshire Gymnastics (2006-20) while attending Amherst Regional HS.
• Was a 2019 USA Gymnastics Level 9 Eastern qualifier.
• Won vault and floor and place third in the all-around at the 2019 Level 9 regional meet.
 

Maddie Wolf

Fr. * All-Around * Los Angeles, Calif. (Harvard-Westlake School/Paramount Elite Gymnastics)
• Level 10 state qualifier while competing for Paramount Elite Gymnastics and attending Harvard-Westlake School.
• Was a two-year state qualifier at Level 9, earning a spot at regionals in 2018.
