ITHACA, N.Y. – Senior forward Gillis Frechette and freshman defenseman Alyssa Regalado have earned ECAC Hockey weekly awards, the conference announced Tuesday morning.

Frechette, who was named ECAC Hockey's Forward of the Week, logged three goals and two assists in the Big Red's two-game sweep of Mercyhurst last weekend at Lynah Rink.

The Weston, Mass., native scored twice in the Big Red's season-opening win, which also was Frechette's 100th collegiate game. She tacked on a goal and two assists to her weekend total in Cornell's 7-2 victory on Saturday.

Regalado was named ECAC Hockey's Co-Rookie of the Week with Brown's Jade Iginla. The Cornell blueliner scored three goals in Saturday's victory, becoming the first Cornell freshman to register a hat trick since Taylor Woods in the 2013 ECAC Hockey semifinals against St. Lawrence. The Mississauga, Ontario, native is the first Big Red defenseman on record since the 1998-99 season to score three times in a game.

After Cornell's first pair of games, Frechette and Regalado are tied for the team lead in goals (three), while Frechette is tied with Izzy Daniel for the Cornell lead in points (five).

Cornell returns to action this weekend when it opens ECAC Hockey play against No. 7 Quinnipiac on Friday and No. 10 Princeton on Saturday. Faceoff for both games is slated for 6 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN+.
