ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Cornell women's gymnastics team will have its final tuneup for the inaugural Gymnastics East Conference Championship when it visits West Chester on Friday, March 11 at 7 p.m. at the Sturzebecker Health Science Center. It will be the second dual meet competition between the teams this season.

The Big Red and the Rams competed on Jan. 23 at Newman Arena with West Chester picking up a 192.475-191.900. That competition was the first for the Big Red at home since the 2020 season.

Cornell is coming off a 190.000 effort at Penn State in a quad meet at Rec Hall in University Park, Pa. Regina Walton was the team's top individual finisher against the high-level field, placing seventh on beam with a strong 9.800. Sydney Beers was third in the all-around with a 38.725, just .075 off her career high.

Head coach Melanie Hall's team will be trying to put it all together entering championship season. The Big Red is ranked 64th nationally with its 191.520 average, while West Chester is 60th with a 193.010. Cornell's best scores of the season put it at 195.300, well above its season high total of 191.900. With its most important competitions of the year upcoming, the Big Red is hoping to round into form beginning this weekend.
