ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Cornell women's tennis team will attempt to extend its five-match win streak, the program's longest since 2017, when it heads to New England for three weekend matches beginning with a non-conference matchup with Boston College on Thursday, April 7 at 2:30 p.m. The Big Red will also continue Ivy competition with matches against Dartmouth (Saturday, April 9 at 1 p.m.) and Harvard (Sunday, April 10 at 1 p.m.) top wrap up the weekend.
Cornell is riding high after topping No. 43 Columbia 4-3 on March 26 in New York City, the Big Red's second win over a ranked opponent in the span of two weeks and a victory in
Katie Zordani's Ivy head coaching debut. The win by the Big Red ended an eight-match Ivy League losing streak and gave the team its first win in conference play since April 21, 2018. The team has already more than doubled its win total from the 2019-20 season and is three away from matching its cumulative wins total from 2018-20.
Boston College has won six of the seven all-time meetings between the programs and brought a 5-9 record (2-7 ACC) into matchups with Louisville and Connecticut. The Eagles' top doubles tandem of Maria Aguiar and Laura Lopez is ranked 63rd nationally.
The Big Red met Dartmouth earlier this season, dropping a competitive 4-3 contest to the Big Red at the Reis Tennis Center in mid-February as part of the ECAC Indoor Championships. The Big Green leads the all-time series 33-7, with Cornell's last win a 4-3 victory in 2013 in Ithaca.
The Crimson also has a longtime advantage over Cornell with a 40-5 edge. Cornell won three straight meetings from 2015-17, including 2016 in Cambridge. Harvard was ranked No. 71 in the most recent ITA rankings.
