Women's Tennis to Close Out Regular Season at #69 Brown, Yale

ITHACA, N.Y. — The Cornell women's tennis team will close out its regular season slate this weekend when it takes on No. 69-ranked Brown and Yale this weekend.

Cornell is coming off a split of its final two homes matches last weekend. The Big Red was swept by No. 67-ranked Harvard, 4-0, before defeating Dartmouth the following day, 4-1.

Sophomore Lan Mi enters this weekend's matches riding a six-match win streak, while posting a 14-2 record at No. 1 singles for the Big Red this season. Freshmen Emma Baker and Tanya Fan are both on three-match win streaks.

Scouting Brown

Brown have a 16-7 overall record and a 4-1 mark in Ivy League matches entering the final weekend of Ancient Eight play. The Bears are 10-2 at home this season with the lone setbacks coming to Boston College, 4-1, and Boston University, 4-3.

The Bears split its matches last weekend against No. 55-ranked Princeton and Penn, falling to the Tigers, 4-1, before sweeping the Quakers, 4-0.

Lindsey Hofflander (12-2) and Ali Benedetto (12-7) have both won 12 singles matches this season. Addison Ahlstrom (11-7), Phoebe Peus (10-3), and Olivia Mariotti (10-6) also have double-digit win totals this season.

Brittany Lau and Ahlstrom have an 11-2 mark in matches at the top doubles spot. Vivian Miller and Nora Lee are 10-3 in matches at No. 2 doubles.

Last year, Lau and Ahlstrom were defeated by Lauren Stein and Jenny Wong, 6-2, despite Brown taking the doubles point. Cornell posted a quartet of victories in singles matches to give the Big Red a 4-2 victory over Brown. Along with Stein, sophomore Alexandra Savu was the only other active Big Red player to post a win in last year's meeting.

Scouting Yale

Yale enters the final weekend of play with a 10-12 overall record and is 2-3 in Ivy League play. The Bulldogs have used their home court to its advantage, having a 6-1 record at the Cullman-Heyman Tennis Center, with the lone blemish coming to Boston University, 5-2, on March 25.

Like Brown, Yale also split its matches with Penn and Princeton last weekend. The Bulldogs swept Penn, 4-0, before being swept by Princeton, 5-0.

Cornell is seeking for its first victory over Yale since posting a 5-2 win on April 21, 2018. Yale has won each of the last three meetings, only conceding three points to the Big Red in the span.

Last year, Cornell received its lone point of the match following a pair of 7-5 victories doubles matches by Stein and Jenny Wong, and Maria Adiaconitei and Savu.
