LAST TIME OUT: Cornell 2, American 1 (2OT) (Sept. 17, 2023)  //  Recap  //  Box Score  //  Gallery  //  Highlights
• Senior Caroline Ramsey's sixth goal of the season capped a late comeback and gave the Cornell field hockey team its first-ever win over American, topping the Eagles 2-1 in double overtime at Marsha Dodson Field.
• It seemed like just a matter of time before the Big Red cashed in on a penalty corner, and they did just that at the right moment.
• On Cornell's 12th opportunity of the day, Ramsey slammed home a drag flick on a feed from sister Julia and a clean stop from Rease Coleman.
• That came on the heels of Grace Leahy's third score of the weekend, this one  tying the contest with 2:16 remaining in regulation.
• Cornell goalkeeper Martha Broderick made seven saves and kept the Eagles off the scoreboard on nine chances on the penalty corner, again holding its opponent scoreless in the second half of a contest.
• That streak now sits at 148:40 of scoreless second half play.
• The Big Red held a 17-14 edge in shots and a 12-9 edge in penalty corners and may not have had to play extra time if it weren't for American goalkeeper Bryn Underwood, who stood strong with 11 saves, including six big stops in the first quarter to set the tone.

FOUR NAMED TO NFHCA WATCHLIST
• Four members of the Cornell field hockey team have been named to the 2023 NFHCA Watchlist sponsored by Victory Sports Tours.
• Senior All-American Caroline Ramsey joins junior Olivia Friedberg, sophomore Grace Leahy and freshman Polly Parsons are among 131 student-athletes named to the initial list.

• Leahy was the team's third-leading scorer a season ago as a freshman with five goals and 12 points, with three of her tallies going as game winners.
• One of just 10 first year players to be recognized, Parsons joins the Big Red after being selected to compete for a spot at the Team USA U-21 National Training Camp.

THE SCORE
• Senior Caroline Ramsey's six goals through five games nearly matches her 2022 season total of eight goals.
• The last time a Big Red player scored goals in at least three consecutive contests, which Ramsey did to open the season, was – Caroline Ramsey in 2021 when she tallied in 10 straight games.
• With her five assists in the team's first three contests, Julia Ramsey is the first freshman to post those kind of numbers since Isabel Siergiej had five assists in a three-game span in 2015.
• Cornell has scored multiple goals in five consecutive games for the first time since 2019 when it hit that mark in its first five matchups.

IVY HONORS
• Three different Cornell players have earned Ivy League Player of the Week accolades so far this season.
