ITHACA, N.Y. -- Freshman
Gilda Dondona and sophomore
Pilar Cundey will compete at the 2024 Women's Singlehanded National Championships on November 9-10 at the St. Petersburg Yacht Club in St. Petersburg, Fla.
Since 2019, Cornell has qualified nine sailors for singlehanded nationals with Lillian Myers placing third in 2021 - one of four top five finishers at the event. A year ago, Lucija Ruzevic claimed fourth place and
Lauren Ehnot was 12th. It was Ruzevic's third appearance at nationals and Ehnot's first.
Dondona earned her first spot at nationals after claiming the Faye Bennett Women's Singlehanded in September. She became the fourth Big Red sailor to claim the conference singlehanded title and first since Ruzevic earned it in 2022. Myers had won the championship in both 2019 and 2021. Cundey was one of 12 at-large choices by the committee to compete in the 18-person field.
