LAST TIME OUT: PATTEN'S CAREER-HIGH SIX GOALS HEADLINE BIG RED'S VICTORY OVER COLGATE
Sophomore midfielder Dillyn Patten played hero, ripping off three of her career-high six goals over the final fifteen minutes to propel the Big Red to a 15-13 win over in-state rival Colgate on Tuesday from Hamilton.
Three other Big Red athletes had multi-point outings (Josie Vogel (3-1-4), Caitlin Slaminko (2-0-2), and Annie Parker (2-0-2)). Slaminko also registered a team-high three caused turnovers, and Parker had her first outing of two points or more in a Cornell uniform. Senior defenders Hilary Hoover and Annie Thomas held down the fort in the draw circle by registering 13 of Cornell's 18 draw victories, which tied the most it has had this season in an early matchup against Binghamton.
Cornell started early, jumping to a 4-2 lead off goals from Patten, Vogel, Parker, and Slaminko before Colgate sliced two past Ellie Horner over 0:34 of game action to tie things at four after one. The Big Red came out firing to open the second with another goal from Vogel that swelled into a 5-0 run over 3:29 to grab its largest lead at 9-4. Colgate did not go away quietly, holding Cornell shotless and tallying three goals over the final three minutes to get within one heading into halftime.Â
Colgate's momentum continued in the third, taking its first lead at 11-10 with 3:24 left in the quarter. The cooled-off Big Red offense finally found the back of the net off a blitzing run by Patten that allowed her to shake her defender and tuck a shot into the top left corner to stop the scoreless drought at 19 minutes and 28 seconds and tie things up at 11 heading into the final frame. Colgate took the momentum early in the fourth with back-to-back goals to put the Big Red in a two-goal hole with 9:47 to go. But Patten put the team on her shoulders late, scoring two goals in sixteen seconds to knot things at 13. And with the wave changing to red, Cornell ended the thought of an upset on a free position goal by Slaminko and Patten's sixth of the night that occurred a minute apart to seal the win.

- Jacksonville raced out to a 3-1 lead after the opening fifteen minutes before the Tigers rattled off a 6-1 run in the second to take a 7-4 lead that it would never give back. Towson also kept the hammer down in the Dolphins' defensive zone after the first quarter with a 28-13 shot advantage and forced the visitors into a season-high 21 turnovers.Â
- Mackenzie Boyle led the offense in the loss to the Tigers with two goals and an assist, while defender Maggie Cuddy had team-highs in ground balls (five), draw controls (three), and caused turnovers (two).Â

- The Dolphins have battled five ranked opponents this season, going 0-5 and have been outscored 90-28 in those games.
- Head coach Tara Singleton is in her second season directing the Dolphins. She is coming off an excellent first season, collecting a 12-8 record and an Atlantic Sun Conference Championship. The Dolphins earned an automatic bid to the NCAA DI Women's Lacrosse Championships, losing 13-7 to No. 6 Florida in the first round.Â
- Jacksonville has found the magic recipe since joining the ASUN in 2013, taking nine of the last ten conference championships alongside six straight.
