ITHACA, N.Y. -- Caleb Treadwell, who brings coaching experience from the club level to Division III and Division I Power 5 conferences, has joined the Cornell men's swimming and diving program as an assistant coach. Treadwell replaces Jake Lichter, who was named head men's and women's swimming and diving coach at Fairfield University this summer.

"I am excited to be back in New York after six years - even more so, I am excited to get to work with Wes and the team," Treadwell said. "We are in a great spot after last season's success and I look forward to building off of that."

"I'm thrilled to have Caleb joining our staff this season," Newman said. "He brings exciting ideas and enthusiasm to our program, and I'm looking forward to see how that elevates our current athletes, as well as our recruiting efforts."

Treadwell most recently spent one season on the staff at UNC Wilmington as an assistant coach, helping the men's and women's programs to league titles in 2024 while playing a role in every aspect of the program. The Seahawk teams produced six individual conference champions and three relay titles while establishing three conference records at the league meet. In all, 26 individuals claimed top three individual finishes and seven relays finished in the top three of the Coastal Athletic Association.

Prior to his time at UNC Wilmington, Treadwell spent two years as a volunteer assistant coach at NC State. In his two seasons, Treadwell helped train five NCAA champions and had the program's best combined finish in men's and women's history with a fifth-place effort in 2023. There was a total of 51 All-America finishes for the Wolfpack over that span along with 23 ACC champions. He led the sprint group practices and assisted with on-campus recruiting in addition to helping with the distance and mid-distance teams.

Treadwell kicked off his coaching career as a graduate assistant coach for two seasons at Wesleyan University, followed by a year as an assistant at Albion College. His responsibilities included recruiting, social media management and strength training while primarily working with the sprint group.

Along the way, Treadwell has been active with club teams, most recently as a team lead coach and supervisor for the Aquahawks Club Team. He previously coaches with the Raleigh Swimming Association, the Middlesex Aquatic Club and the New Paltz HAWKS club while serving as a coach and clinician at various swim camps along the East coast.

A 2018 graduate of SUNY New Paltz with a degree in Geography, Treadwell was a two-year captain of the swimming team and was named the team's Most Valuable Swimmer as a senior. During his time in the pool, he established varsity records for both individual and relay events. Out of the pool, Treadwell was Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) vice president and was the SAAC representative for the SUNYAC conference. He later earned his master's degree in liberal studies from Wesleyan in 2020.
