ITHACA, N.Y. - The Cornell men's swimming and diving team finished at the top of the standings on the opening night of the 2025 Zippy Invitational, earning 220 points. The Big Red led Keiser (212) and Youngstown State (210) after a dominant showing in both the 200-yard medley relay and 800-yard freestyle relay.
Cornell opened the night with a third-place finish in the 200 medley relay, as the A squad of
Pietro Ubertalli,
Phillip Osadsky,
Daniel Simoes, and
Josh Toothman swam 1:26.96, which was less than two seconds off Keiser's meet-record swim. The B relay also produced a strong performance, placing fifth in 1:28.73 behind solid splits from
Blake Conway,
Haihan Xu,
Andrew Lin, and
Mac Marsh. Cornell's depth was on full display, with three additional relays finishing inside the top ten.
The highlight of the night came in the 800-yard freestyle relay, where Cornell claimed the event title with a winning time of 6:27.45. The championship relay of Ubertalli,
Julian Correa, freshman
Will Chen, and
Gabe Anagnoson turned in a balanced and consistent performance, pulling away over the final half of the race to secure 64 points. Cornell also placed fourth in the B relay (6:41.58) and added multiple additional scoring relays to further widen its lead.
