ITHACA, N.Y. - The Cornell women's swimming and diving team opened its 2025 season on Saturday afternoon in Hanover, N.H., competing in a tri-meet against Harvard and Dartmouth. The Big Red dropped both dual matchups, falling 191–108 to Harvard and 161–139 to Dartmouth, but delivered several strong early-season performances across the lineup. Cornell produced multiple runner-up finishes, competitive swims in the stroke events, and encouraging contributions from both veterans and newcomers.
Cornell opened the meet with a sharp performance in the 200-yard medley relay, where the team of
Aly Yokoyama,
Audrey Holden, Sadye Derstadt, and
Kate Li placed second in 1:42.46, finishing just .06 behind Harvard. The Big Red closed the afternoon with another runner-up relay effort in the 200 freestyle relay, as
Rosalee Springer,
Ariel Lin, Li, and freshman
Isabela Teixeira combined for a 1:33.79 finish. Individually, Springer and senior
Jungmin Yoon set the tone early in the 200 free, taking second (1:50.61) and third (1:50.40), respectively.
Cornell earned strong scoring in the backstroke and butterfly events. Junior
Hojung Yoon delivered a pair of top-three finishes, placing third in the 100 back (56.18) and second in the 200 back (1:59.00) to lead the stroke group. Junior Katie Yee added a third-place finish in the 200 fly (2:02.96) before returning for a runner-up swim in the 100 fly (55.64), while freshman Sadye Derstadt tied for sixth in the 100 fly (56.72) and contributed valuable relay legs. Audrey Holden finishing fourth in the 100 breast (1:04.18).
On the diving boards, junior
Brooke Andrews paced the Big Red with a ninth-place finish on 3-meter (230.70) and a sixth-place showing on 1-meter (239.85). In distance freestyle, junior Erin Dehollander provided key points with a fourth-place finish in the 1000 (10:18.35) and sixth in the 500 (5:00.47), while freshman
Natalia Strezenicky Franko added depth in both distance events.

The Cornell women's swimming and diving team will return to action next weekend as they continue early-season competition against Ivy League opponents Penn and Princeton. The Big Red will host both opponents at Teagle Pool.
