Women's Swimming and Diving Falls To Penn, Princeton at Teagle Pool

ITHACA, N.Y. - The Cornell women's swimming and diving team competed in a challenging Ivy League tri-meet on Saturday in Ithaca, facing nationally ranked Princeton and Penn. The Big Red dropped both dual matchups, falling 206.5-93.5 to Penn and 220-79 to Princeton, but posted several encouraging performances, including strong relay swims, multiple top-four individual finishes, and depth across the stroke groups.

Cornell opened the meet with a fourth-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay, as the quartet of Mingna Xu, Audrey Holden, Sadye Derstadt, and Kate Li touched in 1:41.58. The Big Red continued to show relay strength in the 400 freestyle relay to close the meet, where the team of Li, Jungmin Yoon, Isabela Teixeira, and Rosalee Springer placed fourth in 3:26.81. Individually, junior Erin Dehollander delivered one of Cornell's best results of the afternoon with a fourth-place finish in the 1000 freestyle (10:04.66) before adding seventh in the 500 free (4:59.63). Senior Jungmin Yoon also highlighted the freestyle group, finishing fourth in the 200 free (1:49.84) and fifth in the 100 free (51.18).

Cornell earned strong scoring in the backstroke and butterfly events. Sophomore Rosalee Springer placed fifth in the 100 back (54.92) and later finished seventh in the 200 back (2:00.56), while freshman Aly Yokoyama added ninth in the 200 back (2:02.60). In the butterfly, junior Katie Yee placed sixth in the 200 fly (2:01.87) and earned another top-five finish with a fifth-place swim in the 100 fly (54.31). Freshman Sadye Derstadt also contributed with an 11th-place finish in the 100 back (57.01) and a 12th-place time in the 200 back (2:03.12). Cornell's breaststroke group added valuable points with senior Audrey Holden placing third in the 100 breast (1:03.49), while freshmen Nicole Byrnes Cortinas and Oceane Vanlinthout both posted top-six finishes in the 200 breast.

On the boards, Cornell earned its top diving results from junior Brooke Andrews, who placed fourth on 1-meter (251.30) and ninth on 3-meter (231.90). Freshman Lilla Kumziemko added sixth on 1-meter (241.25) and third on 3-meter (264.30), giving Cornell important scoring in both diving events.

The Cornell women's swimming and diving team will return to the pool on Thursday, December 4th for the Zippy Invitational.  The four day competition is set to run from December 4-7 and will take place at Oliver J. Ocasek Natatorium.
