ITHACA, N.Y. -- Cornell women's tennis standouts
Sage Loudon and
Victoria Zhao will look to punch their tickets to the NCAA Singles Championships when they compete at the 2025 ITA Division I Women's East Sectional Championships, beginning Thursday, Nov. 6 at North Carolina's Chewning Tennis Center.
Loudon and Zhao earned their spots in the 32-player field after reaching the quarterfinals at the ITA Northeast Regional Championships earlier this fall. Six singles players from each of the four sectional tournaments will qualify for the NCAA Singles Championship (four semifinalists, two quarterfinal playoff winners), while three doubles teams from each section (the champion, finalist and third-place duo) will advance to the NCAA Doubles Championship.
A second-team All-Ivy selection in both singles and doubles last season, Loudon owns a 5–3 singles record this fall and finished the 2025 spring campaign ranked among the top 20 in the ITA regional rankings. Zhao, also 5–3 this fall, recently saw a four-match win streak end at the regionals and carries a 24–22 career singles mark near the top of Cornell's lineup.
Sectional eligibility is reserved for players and doubles teams that have not yet qualified for the NCAA Championships but reached the later rounds of either the ITA All-American or ITA Regional Championships.
