#3 Big Red Welcomes #6 Minnesota-Duluth To Lynah Rink For NCAA Regional Final

ITHACA, N.Y. - The no. 3-seeded Cornell women's ice hockey team will prepare to host an NCAA Regional for the first time since the 2019-20 season. Cornell is slated to face no. 6-seeded Minnesota-Duluth in the NCAA Regional Final at Lynah Rink on Saturday, March 15. The winner of the contest will advance to the NCAA Frozen Four in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

ECAC Hockey Championship Weekend Rewind
Semifinals vs Clarkson
The no. 3-ranked Cornell women's ice hockey team defeated the Clarkson Golden Knights 2-1 in triple-overtime on Friday afternoon at Lynah Rink. With the win, Cornell advances to the ECAC Hockey Championship and will face the winner of the semifinal match up between Colgate and St. Lawrence.

Lily Delianedis scored both Big Red goals in the game. Grace Dwyer (two), and Rory Guilday, and Katie Chan were credited with assists in the contest. Annelies Bergmann made a career-high 54 saves in the game.

Championship vs Colgate
The no. 3 Cornell women's ice hockey team defeated the no. 5 Colgate Raiders 5-1 at Lynah Rink to claim its first ECAC Hockey Championship since 2013-14. 

Mckenna Van GelderLindzi AvarKarel Prefontaine Kaitlin Jockims, and Katie Chan registered Big Red goals in the contest. Avi AdamRose DwyerRory GuildayLindzi Avar, and Alyssa Regalado were credited with assists in the game. Annelies Bergmann collected 27 saves in the game.

Big Red Players To Watch
Annelies Bergmann has proven to be one of the top goaltenders in the nation, saving 728 shots (.943). Bergmann has held opponents scoreless in nine games, coming in a tie versus Mercyhurst and eight shutout victories against Penn State, RPI, Dartmouth, Yale, Clarkson, St. Lawrence, and Union. Her nine shutouts lead all goaltenders in the nation. In a conference that is star-studded with great goal-tending, Bergmann stands tall among them all earning ECAC Hockey Goaltender of The Year, becoming the second Cornellian in program history to earn the distinction.

The Big Red's scoring production has been spread out, as 12 players currently have double digit points coming into the weekend.  Avi Adam has been a reliable playmaker and leads the way for Cornell in that regard. She is tied for first on the team in assists with with 18. Her 10 goals on the year pushes her point-total to 28 which leads the team.

Lindzi Avar has had a seamless adjustment to the college game. Avar currently leads the team with 15 goals to go along with six assists. She has been named ECAC Hockey Rookie of The Week three times this season. Avar was named the ECAC Hockey and Ivy League Rookie of The Year.

Captain and defense-woman Ashley Messier has been a model of consistency for the Big Red so far this season. Messier has 13 assists to go along with seven goals on the year. Messier's impact on the defensive end is felt, as she has 44 blocked shots on the year to pair with a +17.
